What to do if you get sunburnt this summer

When it comes to sunburn, prevention is better than cure. The sun’s rays are incredibly dangerous, and for those of us living on the African continent, summer can be brutal on our skin. Not only are we at risk of getting a painful sunburn, but we are also at risk of developing skin cancer. Each of us should do everything we can to prevent getting sunburnt, particularly during summer, when we are most at risk. This includes applying SPF daily, wearing protective clothing, and avoiding the sun during peak hours. However, we are only human, and even the most diligent of us slip up sometimes. Developing a sunburn should not be a part of your annual summer holiday, but if you do get one, it’s essential to know how to ensure your skin heals quickly.  Why does our skin get sunburnt? When our skin is exposed to too much UV (ultraviolet) light, it results in sunburn. The primary source of UV light is the sun, however, artificial sources such as tanning beds may also burn the skin. The sun’s UVA rays can penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, leading to premature ageing and DNA damage. On the other hand, UVB rays penetrate the skin more superficially and are responsible for sunburn.  When exposed to the sun, we are at risk of developing sunburn, long-term skin damage, and skin cancer. Everyone can get sunburnt, regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity, so it’s essential to take steps to protect yourself when you go outdoors.  What are some of the symptoms of sunburn? The most apparent symptom of sunburn is redness, particularly in fair skin tones. The skin may feel hot to the touch, painful, itchy, or tender, and in severe cases, there may be swelling or blistering.  When does a sunburn require medical attention? Do not underestimate the power of the sun. A bad sunburn can be life-threatening if not treated. You should seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe symptoms such as chills or fever, headaches, blistering, nausea, muscle cramps or dizziness.  How can you treat a sunburn at home? In most cases, a sunburn can be treated at home, but the discomfort will take some time to be alleviated. Here’s what to do:  Stay out of the sun—This may seem obvious, but the worst thing you can do is expose your sunburnt skin to further damage. Stay indoors while your skin heals, or wear protective clothing if you need to go outside. Drink lots of water – Sunburnt skin draws fluid to the skin’s surface, so your body will need more water than usual to avoid dehydration.  Take cool showers or baths – The cold water will help soothe your skin. Don’t rub your skin when you get out; pat it dry gently to avoid further pain and irritation. Do not apply ice as it may worsen the damage. Take painkillers if necessary. Ibuprofen or aspirin can be taken to relieve pain and swelling. Wear loose clothing – Tight-fitting clothing irritates burnt skin and may cause unnecessary friction. Avoid perfumed products – Fragrances, scented soaps, or lotions should not be applied to sunburnt skin as they may cause irritation. Apply a cooling gel with healing properties – Lamelle Research Laboratories recently launched Helase Rescue Repair Gel, an after-sun skin saviour that can be used by the whole family.  Helase Rescue Repair Gel is intended to nourish, repair, and soothe sun-exposed skin. The product’s potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and cooling agents work rapidly to reduce the extent of the injury. It reduces and soothes redness, heat, and irritation and turns off damaging free radicals if you’ve been overexposed to the sun. Not only does it offer immediate relief from discomfort, but it also limits the damage done by sun exposure.  Directions for use: Apply the required amount of product to the affected area two to three times a day until the redness has subsided. In severe cases of sun exposure, there may be a slight stinging sensation that quickly subsides. Once the Rescue Repair Gel has fully absorbed, additional moisturisers should be added to the affected area over it. Lamelle Serra Soothing Cream is an ideal option for extremely dry, inflamed, and sensitive skin. Be patient – Sunburn is uncomfortable and takes time to heal. Allow your body to heal naturally – do not pick at your skin or blisters, and once it begins to peel, do not rub, tug at or pull the skin.  Protecting your skin from the sun should be a priority all year round, but it becomes increasingly important during summer when the sun’s UV rays are at their most dangerous. Be vigilant regarding sun protection, especially with young children whose skin is highly vulnerable.

Managing hyperpigmentation: The do’s and don’ts

Hyperpigmentation is one of the most common skin concerns in South Africa and it can affect men and women of all ages, and all skin tones. Sadly, it may sometimes be difficult to treat, and those who are prone to it will likely have to manage it continuously, as unwanted dark marks may return even once they have been minimised. Hyperpigmentation is sometimes referred to as dark marks or uneven skin tone. It happens when the skin’s melanin (pigment) production is increased, and this excess melanin takes the shape of dark marks on the skin. There are various reasons why the skin may produce excess melanin, one of which is sun exposure. When our skin is exposed to the sun, it produces more melanin to protect itself (which becomes a sun tan), but sometimes the skin doesn’t produce melanin evenly, which results in dark patches. Sun-induced hyperpigmentation is especially common in fair skin tones. Sun exposure can result in dark marks, but it can also worsen hyperpigmentation caused by hormones or injury (including acne scars). So even if the sun did not cause your hyperpigmentation, it may still worsen it. Luckily, the advancement of modern technology, professional skincare treatments and skincare products means that hyperpigmentation is becoming more manageable. While there are various causes and triggers of hyperpigmentation, there are a few things that everyone can do to help prevent the formation, and treat existing areas of concern: The do’s Determine the root cause The most common cause of hyperpigmentation is sun exposure, but it is not the only one. Hormonal changes, certain medications or acne may all be to blame. To find the best solution for your hyperpigmentation, it is important to determine what is causing it. Pay a visit to your dermatologist or skincare therapist to find out what is triggering it, and how it can be treated. Avoid excessive sun exposure To prevent hyperpigmentation from worsening, it is important to stay out of the sun during peak hours (from around 10am to 2pm). This is when the sun’s UV rays are at their strongest and capable of doing the most damage. If you are going outside, be sure to cover up with protective clothing, a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses and apply sunscreen to all exposed areas. Invest in good quality products that are proven to help minimise hyperpigmentation If you have unwanted dark marks, you need to use skincare products that were specifically formulated for hyperpigmented skin. For real results, invest in a good quality range that has clinical studies to back up their claims. Lamelle’s Luminesce range intervenes with pigment formation in melasma at the skin’s DNA level and inhibits the pathways of pigment formation. The range contains a cleanser, moisturisers, eye cream and sun protection, so you can enjoy an entire regime of products aimed at managing and preventing hyperpigmentation. Add vitamin C to your skincare regime Vitamin C is widely used for its brightening benefits. It protects the cells in the skin from being injured by free radicals formed with sun exposure. It is a potent antioxidant that protects the skin from the formation on hyperpigmentation while minimising existing hyperpigmentation and increasing the skin’s radiance. Incorporate a vitamin C serum like Lamelle Correctives Vita C Lipid Serum in your daily regime. This lipid-soluble vitamin C serum offers advanced vitamin C action without irritating the skin. The don’ts Don’t leave home without applying SPF first Sun protection is our number one fighter in the combat against hyperpigmentation. No matter what time of the day it is, or how sunny it is outside, you absolutely have to apply SPF before heading outdoors. This is a non-negotiable if you’re serious about minimising existing pigmentation, or preventing the formation of new dark marks. Lamelle Helase 50 offers unique broad-spectrum protection by protecting you against effects of the full spectrum of solar radiation, including visible and infrared light. This while also mopping up damage that might be caused by the sun. Don’t try home remedies If you follow beauty content on Instagram or Tik Tok you may be familiar with some of the home remedies people use in an attempt to treat hyperpigmentation. From lemon juice to bicarbonate of soda, social media is filled with DIY skincare recipes. We recommend steering clear of these trends, as they are not proven successful, and many of them are actually harmful to the skin. Don’t scrub excessively A common myth is that exfoliating your skin regularly with a scrub will help remove stubborn pigmentation. This is entirely untrue. While exfoliation forms an important part of a healthy skincare regime, mechanical scrubs have a tendency to create micro-tears in the skin, plus, if you over-exfoliate, you may actually damage your skin barrier, cause sensitivity and end up worsening the hyperpigmentation. Opt for an enzymatic exfoliator such as Lamelle Correctives Cathepzyme once or twice a week instead. Don’t pick your skin Ever heard of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)? Those are the dark marks that remain behind after a pimple has healed. When you pick at blemishes, you not only put your skin at risk of infection, but you also increase your chances of developing PIH. As difficult as it may be, avoid picking at blemishes or touching them unnecessarily. Apply a treatment gel such as Lamelle Clarity Active Control twice a day and allow the blemish to heal. While hyperpigmentation is known for being tricky to manage, it is not impossible, and with the right products and lifestyle choices, you too can enjoy an even skin tone and radiant complexion. Introducing NEW Synergy Peel – a cutting-edge solution for big rewards with fewer risks

Lamelle Research Laboratories is excited to announce an innovation within the arena they’ve pioneered for decades. Introducing Synergy Peel, a cutting-edge bioactive superficial chemical peel designed to deliver exceptional skin improvement with significantly reduced risk and side effects. This revolutionary in-office treatment offers results comparable to more intensive peels traditionally associated with a higher risk, making it a game-changer for those wanting dramatic results with minimal discomfort and downtime.  Embrace the power of two New Synergy Peel harnesses the power of structurally modified Trichloroacetic (TCA) and Lactic acids, transformed through a proprietary manufacturing process. This revolutionary combination results in a hybrid acid structure that promises safe and effective exfoliation while introducing unique biological properties. Unlike TCA and Lactic acid when used individually, the Synergy Peel leverages their collaborative effect to directly inhibit tyrosinase, collagenase and elastase – enzymes that play a role in causing hyperpigmentation and the breakdown of collagen and elastin respectively. To date, this is something that no other chemical peel has been able to do. Simply put, Synergy Peel is a pioneer!  Clinical tests have shown that the Synergy Peel won’t increase skin inflammatory markers or alter the skin barrier. Instead, it significantly boosts collagen, elastin, fibronectin, and growth factor protein expression, making it a powerful catalyst for skin rejuvenation. The problem with other peels   In the past, those wanting to dramatically improve the look of sun-damaged or ageing skin via a peel would have to brace for a very intensive one, something that could reach the deeper layers of the skin. They’d also have to balance the lure of big benefits with the potential for pain, heavy peeling, downtime and an increased risk of experiencing delayed healing and adverse effects such as hyper-pigmentation, hypo-pigmentation (the loss of melanin, visible as white patches) and possibly even scarring. Enter Synergy Peel – outstanding results, reduced risks Unlike other peel combinations requiring high concentrations, Synergy Peel is remarkably gentle yet can achieve similar or better outcomes with lower, safer concentrations. With an extremely low adverse event profile (only 4%), most patients will experience little to no peeling. What you can expect, however, are outstanding results after just one treatment, although we recommend a series of three, performed a month apart. This way, you can enjoy improvements in skin redness, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, and overall skin appearance – the same results you could expect from much more invasive treatments – with minimal risk, downtime, and discomfort. A radiant new era for skin rejuvenation  If you’d like to get the upper hand on age prevention or benefit from next-level age correction, without the risk of traditional intensive peels, consider a Synergy Peel. This way, you can reap the synergistic power of two that now stand alone as a breakthrough in chemical peels.  To learn more about Pigment Repair Balm, visit www.lamelle.co.za.  Tel: (011) 465 2264

NEW Pigment Repair Balm – breakthrough post care support for in-office hyperpigmentation treatments

Lamelle Research Laboratories is excited to launch yet another innovation – NEW Pigment Repair Balm. This advanced formulation is specifically designed to support and repair the skin following professional in-office treatments, such as laser therapy or peels, targeting hyperpigmentation. Inspired by triple therapy, improved by science For decades, the Kligman formula, also known as triple therapy, has been the gold standard in clinical dermatology for managing hyperpigmentation. It includes hydroquinone for melanocyte suppression; cortisone to reduce inflammation, and retinoic acid to speed up skin cell turnover. However, patient reviews have revealed that more than half of them experience dissatisfaction due to adverse effects or a recurrence of their pigmentation once they discontinue the treatment. Enter NEW Pigment Repair Balm Pigment Repair Balm is a non-prescription alternative that harnesses the beneficial aspects of the Kligman formula while eliminating the drawbacks and adding a host of unique benefits. By replacing irritating and scheduled ingredients with safe, effective, and well-tolerated alternatives, Lamelle has created a potent and proven rapid healing solution specially developed for all patients following professional in-office treatments for hyperpigmentation. Why Pigment Repair Balm is a breakthrough Pigment Repair Balm is designed to reduce inflammation, inhibit the production of melanin, burning, irritation, and support skin barrier disruption via an innovative blend of powerful ingredients.  Ultimate barrier support A medical-grade silicone blend creates a semi-permeable membrane on the skin, enhancing barrier repair and limiting trans epidermal water loss (TEWL) to optimise recovery after resurfacing procedures.  Powerful anti-inflammatory effects Indian Gooseberry extracts provide corticoid-like effects, effectively reducing inflammation but without the risks associated with cortisone, that include thinning of the skin and inhibiting healing. Super soothing benefits Bisabolol and ginger extract calm irritated skin, ensuring a comfortable recovery while a synthetic Avenanthramide <soothing oat extract> rapidly reduces stinging as it inhibits histamine release. Anti-hyperpigmentation power A combination of Curcumin and a Resorcinol derivative significantly suppresses melanocytes (the skin cells that produce melanin), providing results equivalent to 4% hydroquinone. Rapid healing response An innovative retinoic acid analogue gently stimulates skin cell turnover to accelerate the healing process without triggering a retinoid response, worsening irritation or increasing the risk of sun sensitivity typically associated with the retinoic acid used in triple therapy. Discover a new way to peel and heal Lamelle Research Laboratories’ Pigment Repair offers a safer, more comfortable, and equally effective alternative to the traditional Kligman formula. In short, it’s leading the way in addressing the needs of hyperpigmentation patients who want to enjoy great results, not risks.  To learn more about Pigment Repair Balm, visit www.lamelle.co.za.  Tel: (011) 465 2264

CENTAR® – Where healing meets confidence

Lamelle Pharmaceuticals proudly announces CENTAR, a groundbreaking line of scar therapy and stretch mark prevention products. This innovative range, featuring CENTAR Lotion and CENTAR Gel, offers effective prevention and improvement in the appearance of stretch marks as well as an improvement in the appearance of new scars from wounds.  What we know about healing Striae distensae, commonly known as stretch marks, result from an intense inflammatory reaction within the dermis, causing the release of elastase enzymes that degrade elastic tissue. Once formed, there is no conclusive evidence that stretch marks can be completely removed, making prevention a must. The appearance of newly formed scars from injuries or surgeries, however, can be significantly improved if addressed early. Until now, few topical treatments are both convenient and clinically effective. This is where CENTAR’s healing power stands apart.  The science behind CENTAR® CENTAR’s active ingredients are designed to work in synergy, enhancing each other’s effects. However, Lamelle has elevated this synergy further with a technologically advanced formulation.  Clinical studies have shown that Centella Asiatica extract reduces inflammation, aids in tissue regeneration, facilitates cell migration and boosts collagen production. CENTAR’s star ingredient, UDCA, is an ultra-distillate of active triterpenes derived from Centella Asiatica. Unlike typical Centella Asiatica extracts, which vary in concentration, UDCA is highly purified, standardised and, due to its unique extraction process, dramatically more potent.  CENTAR’s second cutting-edge anti-inflammatory is Copper Tri-peptide (GHK-Cu), renowned for its impressive skin rejuvenation and healing properties. It promotes the production of new collagen and elastin, increases cellular turnover, and stimulates the creation of new blood vessels – all essential for optimal wound healing and scar minimisation. CENTAR Gel also contains the extremolyte Ectoin, a naturally occurring compound that protects organisms in extreme environments to soothe, lock in hydration, increases skin elasticity and aid in barrier repair. Choose your healing hero  CENTAR Lotion Formulated for the prevention or improvement of newer, red stretch marks as well as closed red scars, this light cream-gel emulsion is ideal to treat larger, stretchmark-prone areas. It contains UDCA, Copper Tri-peptide, Beta Glucan (a humectant clinically proven to be 20% more hydrating than hyaluronic acid) and proven anti-inflammatory skin emollients. CENTAR Lotion is applied twice daily to the affected or concern areas onto clean, dried skin. CENTAR Gel A super-concentrated formulation for newly forming stretchmarks or persistently red scars, this powerhouse gel is designed for more aggressive scar modulation. It contains UDCA, Copper Tri-peptide, soothing Dexpanthenol (known for its ability to stimulate skin regeneration and promote wound healing), hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and Ectoin. CENTAR Gel is applied 3 times per day to the affected area and can be applied over  micro-pore tape and other breathable wound covers. Both CENTAR Lotion and Gel are safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Discover the ideal way to heal NEW CENTAR Lotion and CENTAR Gel offer a safe, comfortable, and effective solution that surpasses traditional scar and stretch mark treatments. In short, they’re ready to revolutionise your healing journey. To learn more, visit www.centar.co.za.   Tel: (011) 465 2264

5 Surprising factors that may aggravate skin sensitivity and irritation

The term “sensitive skin” has become one of the most searched skincare conditions online, and over the past few years the condition has become more and more prevalent among men and women of all ages. The National Library of Medicine in the United States estimates that 60-70% of women, and 50-60% of men report having some degree of sensitive skin. This equates to a staggering number of people struggling with sensitivity – and a major need to address the problem. What is sensitive skin? We use the term “sensitive skin” to refer to skin that is reactive to various internal and external factors. Sensitive skin typically experiences discomfort, dryness or redness and almost always has an impaired skin barrier. What are some of the signs of sensitive skin? Sensitive skin may experience various unpleasant sensations such as itching, burning or stinging. It may feel tight or dry, it may have a rough texture and even flake. Sometimes sensitivity is characterised by redness. All of these signs may indicate sensitivity, and many of them go hand-in-hand with dryness. What causes sensitive skin? There are many different internal and external factors that may cause or aggravate sensitivity. A dysfunctional skin barrier is one of the leading causes. Your skin barrier is made up of the outermost layer of skin cells (corneocytes) suspended in a waxy layer of lipids (forming the skin’s lipid bi-layer). Over-washing or damage from the environment strips away these essential lipids, leaving gaps between the corneocytes. Your skin’s moisture escapes through these “gaps” causing your dry skin, and it also allows impurities to enter your skin, causing sensitivity. As mentioned, there are various factors influencing sensitivity and irritation, some of which are more obvious than others. Did you know that certain lifestyle factors may also exasperate and increase sensitivity? Some of the most surprising factors include: Stress Stress has a major effect on our health. When we stress, our bodies produce stress hormones, known for causing inflammation. These hormones may aggravate sensitivity. Stress is also a big trigger for conditions like eczema and psoriasis Soap and detergents Some soaps and detergents contain harsh surfactants that may affect the skin’s barrier function, leading to dryness and sensitivity. This may include the soap you use to wash your hands and body, your laundry detergent and dishwashing liquid. Diet Food intolerances, sensitivities and allergies may cause skin upset for some people, resulting in redness, itching, rashes etc. This may include – but is not limited to – sensitivities to gluten and wheat, dairy, peanuts, eggs and more. Hot showers There’s nothing like a hot shower in winter, right? But sadly, contact with hot water may increase sensitivity and dryness. That’s because hot water strips skin of its natural moisture and protective oils, making it prone to dryness and discomfort. Hot water may also damage the keratin cells in the epidermis, preventing them from locking in moisture. Wash your face and body with lukewarm to warm water instead. Change in temperature The cold winter months are generally the time in which dryness and sensitivity is at its worst. It’s also the time in which most people who suffer from eczema or psoriasis, experience flare-ups. Low humidity, colder temperatures and icy winds reduce our skin’s moisture levels, making it difficult to retain moisture, often leading to redness, dryness, sensitivity and flaking. How to restore dry and sensitive skin Surprisingly, most dry-skin treatments only focus on replacing lost moisture, which is why they don’t work in the long run. Rehydrating the skin is only one half of the job – you need to also repair the skin barrier, otherwise, you’ll need to keep applying moisture and the skin doesn’t return to its normal healthy state. That’s why Lamelle Research Laboratories’s dry skin treatments are focused on restoring the skin barrier while hydrating and soothing. Lamelle’s Serra skincare range is designed to sooth, treat and protect dry, sensitive and itchy skin. Serra is made with a proprietary type of lipid-restore ingredient – Ceramide-P – that rebuilds your skin barrier while it rehydrates for smooth, supple and itch-free skin on your face and all-over body – any time of the year. By combining advanced hydrating and soothing ingredients – to give you relief in the short term – with proprietary lipid-function-mimicking Ceramide-P to temporarily replace the structures of your skin while it repairs it for the long term, Serra is an advanced solution for dry and sensitive skin. For dry and sensitive skin on the body, try Lamelle Serra Soothing Body Lotion (R400.00). This non-greasy, quick-absorbing lotion employs the barrier-restoring abilities of Lamelle’s Ceramide-P along with the specialised water-binding humectant urea and essential fatty acids to rebuild your skin barrier all over the body. For a compromised skin barrier, try Lamelle Serra Restore Cream (R630.00). This light, non-oily moisturiser is packed with ingredients that replace the lipid bi-layer that makes up your skin barrier, restoring it while hydrating and soothing your skin. It also corrects your skin’s pH levels, boosting your skin’s health and immune function while soothing dry, itchy and sensitive skin. For a slightly richer formulation and to soothe dryness and sensitivity, use Lamelle Serra Soothing Cream (R860.00). This richer moisturiser features ingredients encapsulated in lipids (which makes it feel richer), making it ideal for treating more severe dry, inflamed, sensitive or allergic skin. Also containing a blend of Ceramide-P, Oat Beta Glucan, dexpanthenol and essential fatty acids, Serra Soothing Cream additionally contains patented anti-redness and anti-itching therapies to ensure effective recovery with minimal irritation. If you have SSS (Sensitive Skin Syndrome) – a dermatological medical condition different to regular dry and sensitive skin – then Lamelle Serra NSB Cream (R770.00) may be the solution you’ve been looking for. Serra NSB Cream was created for those suffering from Sensitive Skin Syndrome, a diagnosable associated neuro-sensitivity condition, or those who’ve experienced some relief with the Serra range but require even more assistance in alleviating hypersensitivity. It contains Ceramide-P, Niacinamide, Amino Acids and Shea Butter. Sensitive skin may be on the rise, but with Lamelle’s Serra skincare range, there

Body acne 101: Everything you need to know about prevention and treatment

We know that acne is becoming more and more prevalent among men and women of all ages, and that adult acne is on the rise, but unfortunately it is not just our faces that are affected by breakouts. ‘Bacne’, the term often used to describe acne on the body (and specifically the back), may be less common than facial acne, but it affects thousands of teenagers, men and women, regardless of their age. Body acne typically appears on the upper back, chest or buttocks, and like facial acne, it may be caused by a variety of different factors. In some instances, the same factors that trigger facial acne may lead to body, but this isn’t always the case. The most common causes of body acne are: Sweat Body acne is common among people who regularly exercise, particularly those who sweat a lot during workouts. Sweat may aggravate breakouts and if the skin is not cleansed shortly after exercise, more breakouts may develop. Friction Sources of friction may lead to a type of body acne known as ‘acne mechanica’. When you rub something against the skin, or put pressure on the skin, and this friction is combined with heat or sweat, the follicles may become irritated and inflamed, leading to breakouts. You can develop acne mechanica from tight clothing, sports equipment or even something as simple as carrying a backpack while hiking. Hair care products Did you know that most shampoos and conditioners contain oils and silicones that may clog pores and cause irritation? When you rinse the shampoo and conditioner from your hair, these products run onto your back in the shower, and may lead to clogged pores and breakouts. This is known as ‘acne cosmetica’. Hormones Hormonal irregularities and fluctuations is linked to the overproduction of sebum, which may clog pores on the face and body, leading to acne. This is particularly common during puberty and women may also experience this during menopause, as well as during certain times of their monthly menstrual cycle. How to prevent and treat body acne Shower after exercise Take a shower as soon as you can after exercise to avoid sweat sitting on the skin for a prolonged length of time. Wash skin gently (don’t rub vigorously or tug at the skin), and if you are prone to getting body acne, use a cleanser containing salicylic acid on the affected areas. Lamelle Clarity Active Cleanse (R290.00) utilises salicylic acid and tea tree oil to gently cleanse and exfoliate skin while soothing and calming redness. Wash your hair before washing your body When showering, always wash and condition your hair first, before you wash your body. This will allow you to wash off any haircare product that may be sitting on your back or chest, and prevent the formation of acne cosmetic. Wash clothing regularly Sweat, bacteria and dead skin cells may remain on clothing and other fabrics (such as bedding) if they are not washed thoroughly and regularly. Be sure to wash your workout clothing after each session, change bedding regularly and don’t wear a shirt more than once before washing. Add a supplement to your daily regime Certain minerals and nutrients are known to help fight acne, and taking a quality supplement designed for clearer skin is a must if you struggle with body acne. Lamelle Acnevelle Plus (R345.00) contains zinc, copper glycinate and nicotinamide, a combination that has been shown to improve inflammatory acne and reduce redness and sensitivity. When used in combination with Lamelle’s Clarity skincare range, Acnevelle Plus has been shown to achieve an improvement in 88% of patients with mild to moderate inflammatory problematic skin within eight weeks of use. Treat existing spots with the right products Body acne can have a major impact on one’s confidence, so it’s important to treat it using high quality products that deliver on their promises. An ideal product for the treatment of non-facial acne is Lamelle’s Clarity Body Spray (R495.00) which contains a host of spot-fighting ingredients like salicylic acid, niacinamide and beta hydroxy acid to help unclog congested pores, exfoliate the skin and soothe inflammation. The convenient spray format allows you to easily spray it onto the back and chest. Allow the product to dry before getting dressed. Treating an existing spot with a topical product will help it to heal faster and minimise the risks of further infection and scarring. Try Lamelle Clarity Active Control (R155.00), a spot gel that assists in speeding up the healing and recovery process of inflammatory lesions. Like the Clarity Body Spray, it also contains salicylic acid, niacinamide and beta hydroxy acid, along with potassium azeloyl diglycinate, an ingredient derived from acne-busting azelaic acid. Apply directly to spots twice a day. With a few small lifestyle changes and the right products, body acne can be managed and minimised. Tik Tok’s viral rice water toner is breaking the internet, but does it really work?

The Tik Tok beauty community is known for sharing plenty of skincare tips and hacks – some incredibly useful, others a little wacky. The latest DIY skincare trend to emerge on this social media platform – and go viral – is rice water toner. Influencers are swearing by it, and the hashtag #ricewater has surpassed 800 million views on Tik Tok, so it comes as no surprise that women all over the world are trying it themselves. To make rice water is super simple: Steep white rice in cold water for about half an hour, then drain the water from the rice. Some women like to cool it in the fridge, while others use it at room temperature. Dip a cotton pad in the liquid and gently sweep it across your skin, allowing it to dry before applying your serum or moisturiser. According to Tik Tok, this cloudy water makes the perfect toner, helping to increase the skin’s radiance, reduce redness, soothe irritated skin and neutralize free radicals (thanks to its antioxidant content). Rich in protein, amino acids, starch and vitamins B and E, rice water may be a new trend on social media, but its use in beauty is not. It’s been documented that women in Ancient China and Japan used rice water to cleanse their skin and hair, as it was believed to give the skin a glow and increase the hair’s shine. While there is something to be said for the history and tradition that goes along with the use of rice water, it’s important to investigate any skincare trend that emerges on social media before trying it yourself. Lamelle Research Laboratories is a leader in the skincare industry, and is always at the forefront of innovation and new, cutting-edge skincare technologies. Karen Bester, Medical Trainer at Lamelle, gives her professional opinion on the rice water toner trend: “In terms of the pH of rice water, I think the fermentation probably changes the pH of the water so that it might be more compatible with skin. The carbohydrates present in rice water might actually help the skin to trap water. We know that Ferulic acid is derived from certain forms of rice and this is a great exfoliator and antioxidant. Fermentation increases the probiotics in the solution and they might have some effect on the skin’s biome. I am not sure that rice and human probiotics are the same but it being human food, it probably does help. I do not believe it will reverse severe sun damaged skin or manage acute inflammatory acne, but I do think it could benefit skin that is generally healthy and just needs a boost. It is also cost effective.” So while it may not cure acne or fix any or all skincare concerns, it does have its benefits. For a professional treatment that offers visible results and improved skin health using ingredients derived from rice, look no further than Lamelle’s Rice Bran Peel. This professional treatment is renowned for its anti-ageing benefits, as well as for its ability to help reduce and manage pigmentation. The main ingredient in the Lamelle Rice Bran AO (antioxidant) Peel System is Japanese rice bran extract which offers a rich source of Ferulic acid. This polyphenol is incorporated into the peel with Ascorbic Acid, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid Retinol and Panthenol. Rice Bran AO peel system is an effective in-office treatment for clients seeking age prevention options. This combination of ingredients offers an effective resurfacing treatment with the added advantage that it has no sun-sensitizing risk (sensitivity to the sun is a real risk for the first week post peel with alpha hydroxy acids peels). What can you expect from this treatment? After preparation of the skin, four layers of peel solutions are applied to the skin over each other – two layers of each of the two Rice Bran AO peel solutions. You may experience a slight feeling of tightening of the skin during the procedure, and only the slightest tingle is experienced in very dry skin, making the treatment very comfortable. The skin is left with a light yellow mask, which is to be removed at home, 6-8 hours post-treatment, using a Lamelle cleanser, and followed with the Restorative Balm. This twice-daily routine, including the use of sunscreen during the day, is continued until the skin has fully recovered (after about a week). Expected post-treatment recovery: Day 1-2: Skin can feel heat sensitive and slightly sensitised; Day 3-5: Sensitivity with light flaking – some products can cause the skin to tingle and flush; Day 6-7: Slight sensitivity – go back to usual cleanser and moisturiser; Day 8: Returns to home care product routine. Skin benefits: Increased desquamation (shedding); Increased antioxidant protection; Improved skin texture, brightness and removal of irregular pigmentation; Increased product penetration. If you’re looking for an anti-ageing solution, or want to improve pigmentation or your skin’s texture, find out from your skincare professional if the Lamelle Rice Bran AO Peel System is suitable for you. Lamelle Helase: How ASE sunscreen protection technology makes all the difference

When it comes to skincare innovations, Lamelle Research Laboratories has always been a pioneer, but our cutting-edge Helase range has revolutionised sun protection as we know it. While many things give it the edge over any other sunscreen, its ASE technology allows it to offer so much more than just protection against the full spectrum of sunlight. Ready to unpack the Lamelle difference? Photolyase – not your auntie’s algae ASE technology is essentially Helase’s inclusion of two key enzymes, including photolyase, a naturally occurring protein with the ability to repair the DNA damage caused by UV radiation. Derived from a particular algae, it doesn’t just protect your skin from the havoc caused by unprotected sun exposure, it actively repairs the damage. Sunlight, as great as it feels on your skin, is not your friend. The UV-B aspect not only suppresses your immune system but also mutates your skin cell’s DNA, ultimately leading to the formation of potentially lethal tumours. While all living organisms have repair mechanisms that can identify damaged bits of DNA as well as snip them out and replace them, some organisms – hello algae – are much, much better at it thanks to photolyase. This extraordinary enzyme has the ability to seek out any dimers (abnormal kinks in DNA) and swiftly correct them.  A very different defence ASE technology aside, both Helase 50+ and Helase Urban Defence 30 (which has the added benefit of reducing the negative effects of air pollution) are action-packed with antioxidants and can defend differently with two more weapons – TRPV1 inhibition and AHR inhibition. TRPV1, despite sounding like a radio channel, is a receptor that regulates your skin’s temperature. It’s activated by sun exposure and, once triggered, has a negative effect on your skin’s collagen production while ramping up inflammation – the fast track to premature ageing and pigmentation. As far as AHR goes, these are aryl hydrocarbon receptors – a “gene switch” in your cells – that can lower your skin’s immune system, increasing your risk of developing skin cancer. This is why our AHR inhibiting technology isn’t just a next-level sun protection “nice to have”, but a potentially life-saving must. Make the switch Ultimately, Lamelle’s Helase line hails an exciting new era in sun protection. It doesn’t just defend against sun damage but actively repairs damaged DNA. What other brand can offer you that? Maybe it’s time you made the switch and see how Lamelle does it differently for yourself.

Lamelle skincare expert answers the most common questions about acne

Gone are the days when breakouts magically disappear the moment you leave your teens, never to be seen again. Adult acne is becoming more and more common, and it’s not unusual for people to continue experiencing breakouts well into their 30s, 40s and even 50s. The reason? There are many. From hormones, to lifestyle, to hygiene and stress, each person’s acne journey is unique. Whether you experience the odd breakout or you’re battling full-on acne, pimples have a way of knocking one’s self-esteem and putting a damper on day-to-day life. The best way to overcome breakouts begins with education. The more you know, the better you’ll be equipped to deal with them – no matter how stubborn they may seem. Karen Bester, Medical Trainer at Lamelle Research Laboratories, answers the most common questions about acne and breakouts: I’m no longer a teenager but I’m suddenly experiencing breakouts again. Why is this happening to me as an adult?  We all assume that the only time you should get breakouts is when you are in your teens. Even though this is the one time that your body is going through a massive amount of hormonal change, this is not the only time that it happens. Breakouts indicate a change in hormones and we have a few phases in our life when this happens. What is the difference between breakouts and acne? The odd pimple can be caused by changing environments, stress, an area of clogged pores or maybe after a peel or resurfacing treatments that creates change in your skin. There would be no irregularity about a breakout. Acne is a chronic condition that is driven by hormones and probably has a link to your genetics. It will worsen with stress and hormonal change. It can also vary from very light to full inflammatory cystic acne. Can my diet lead to breakouts? That is an interesting question. There is no unequivocal evidence that proves that diet is linked to acne or the worsening of breakouts. If there were a strong link then there would be populations that don’t have acne where these foods might be excluded from their diets. No population is excluded from acne and breakouts. There are individual anecdotal links to diet though and these cannot be denied. One of the drivers of male hormone in PCOS is insulin resistance. So in the PCOS patient sugary diets and a diet high in carbohydrates might worsen their acne anecdotally. Can wearing makeup cause breakouts? Wearing makeup does not cause breakouts. Rather, not removing makeup and sleeping with thick layers of makeup on your skin might cause breakouts. Once again this will vary from person to person. Makeup does not cause acne though. Hormone fluctuations and genetic pre-disposition do. What type of skincare ingredients and products should I be using to clear blemishes and prevent new ones from forming? For the odd pimple we love salicylic acid, azelaic acid and niacinamide. These could be included in a cleanser or spot treatment or moisturiser. Add a Retinoic acid ester to that if you have acne, generally used at night in a moisturising cream or additional serum used with moisturisers. What should (and shouldn’t) I do when I notice a new pimple appearing? Keep calm. Don’t fiddle. At Lamelle we use our Clarity Active Control spot treatment that contains ingredients that calm inflammation, kill bacteria in the pore and remove any blockage of the pore. Is it normal to develop acne after menopause? Perimenopause and menopause is one of the times when females have enormous fluctuations in hormones as their ovaries stop their hormone production. This means that there is a lot more male hormone action in their bodies – these would previously be controlled by the female hormones. So it is very normal for women to have oilier skin, get more breakouts and even start losing their hair – all driven by testosterone. How can I maintain an anti-aging routine while managing breakouts? When you are using Retinoic acid, as in our Clarity PM Plus and RA Correctives, you are managing the breakouts but also adding a powerful age prevention ingredient to your skin. Retinoic acid increases skin turnover and shedding in the top layers of your skin. This keeps that layer younger and healthy. Retinoic acid also removes elastosis and when you use it for more than 10 months it will show significant collagen production. Additionally, Niacinamide is also anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing. It helps our skin make good lipid bi-layer that is key in age prevention and correction. Nobiletin is another interesting ingredient. In Dermaheal we use it because it stops the genetic triggers that cause chronic inflammation that is a key to our skin getting old. In Clarity we use it because it is able to decrease the size of enlarged sebaceous glands in acne and it also makes sebum less sticky. So when you have acne and you are using Clarity and Acnevelle Plus, you do not need to worry about ageing as Lamelle is already helping you with that. Are there any lifestyle habits that can lessen my breakouts? There is definitely a lot to be said for keeping skin clean and healthy. This is done by cleansing and moisturising the skin twice a day with the correct products for your skin. If you do notice a lifestyle habit that is affecting your skin health, try to avoid it. Don’t pick at your skin or pimples and avoid touching your skin too much as our hands do tend to be dirtier. If you tend to get breakouts around your hairline, wash your hair regularly. The scalp tends to be oilier at the hair follicles. For more information, visit www.lamelle.co.za

Lamelle Research Laboratories, the leader in skincare innovation, is proud to unveil its latest game-changer – NEW Helase Photo-Repair Tint 50. This revolutionary new addition to the bestselling Helase range seamlessly merges Lamelle’s next-level sunscreen technology with a medium-weight colour-correcting tint for unparalleled protection against all forms of harmful light while evening-out your complexion. Four shades to flatter and perfect Available in four highly blendable shades to suit a broad range of skin tones, Helase Photo-Repair Tint 50 can be used in place of foundation and sunscreen, making it an all-in-one solution to colour correction and full-spectrum protection. However, if you have a more pigmented skin type or simply prefer more coverage, you can easily wear it over your favourite foundation. Just be sure to apply it 10 minutes before heading outdoors to enjoy optimal sun protection. Not your average sun protector Unlike other sunscreens that only shield you from UVA and UVB rays, Helase Photo-Repair Tint 50 defends against the full spectrum of light. This includes UVC light that negatively affects your immune system; visible light that contributes to photo-ageing and DNA damage as well as Infrared A, B and C. The latter is the type of light that causes you to feel warm but also triggers premature ageing and pigmentation-encouraging inflammation. Helase Photo-Repair Tint 50’s superstar actives include Pycnogenol, a potent antioxidant derived from French Maritime bark, to fend off cell-damaging free radicals and calm inflammation. It also contains TRPV1 and AHR inhibitors to negate the effects of immune suppression caused by exposure to early UVB, Infrared and UVC frequencies. Lastly, Helase Photo-Repair Tint 50 doesn’t just protect – it also corrects thanks to a powerful DNA-repairing enzyme, photolyase. It has the unique ability to seek out and repair dangerous dimers (essentially “kinks” and breaks in your DNA) that if left unchecked could lead to the mutations that cause skin cancer. If you’re looking for next-generation sun protection served up with a skin-tone flattering tint, you’re going to want Helase Photo-Repair Tint 50 in your make-up bag this summer.  To learn more about Helase Photo-Repair Tint 50, visit Lamelle.co.za

Five skincare resolutions we should all make and keep in 2024

New Year’s resolutions have a reputation for getting broken. In fact, it’s been reported that most people abandon their resolutions as soon as two months into a new year. While we have the best intentions when setting them, we sometimes fall into the trap of aspiring to unrealistic standards. Not only does this make our resolutions difficult to achieve, but it also makes them feel like hard work (which most of us don’t have the energy or time for). This year, instead of aspiring to unrealistic beauty goals that may leave us abandoning ship, we’re committing to small, attainable goals that are easy to achieve, and make a great impact on the health and beauty of our skin in the long run. Lamelle Research Laboratories has identified five realistic skincare resolutions you can make (and keep!) this year: 1# Remove your makeup before going to bed Have you ever come home late, wanting nothing more than to skip your evening routine and simply collapse onto your bed? Going to bed with makeup on is terrible for your skin and should be avoided at all costs. It clogs pores, may lead to breakouts and leaves skin looking lacklustre. Stick to your evening skincare routine every day, and always remove your makeup before going to bed – no matter how tired you are. 2# Apply SPF every single day Did you know that your skin is vulnerable to sun-induced DNA damage all year round? This means that you need to apply a broad-spectrum sun protection product every single day, even on overcast and rainy days. Choose an SPF with a superior formulation and additional anti-ageing benefits like Lamelle Helase 50. It protects against the full spectrum of sunlight while the super-antioxidant Pycnogenol® destroys harmful free radicals to decrease the number of harmful enzymes that cause thinning and sagging of the skin. 3# Stay hydrated There are endless benefits to drinking water throughout the day. From better digestion to maintaining healthy blood pressure, water nourishes our bodies and helps them to function optimally. It is also essential for hydrated skin. The more water you drink, the more hydrated and plumper your skin will be, plus, as water helps flush out toxins, you’ll also enjoy a clearer complexion with fewer breakouts. You can give your skin even more hydration by incorporating hyaluronic acid into your skincare regime. This ingredient is known to hold 1000 times its own weight in water, and is considered the very best option for dehydrated skin. Try Lamelle Correctives HA+ Serum, which contains five types of hyaluronic acid for maximum skin hydration benefits. 4# Focus on antioxidants To combat the effects of harmful free radicals on the skin and body, it’s important to ensure your diet and skincare regime is rich in high performance antioxidants. When it comes to food, be sure to eat plenty of brightly coloured fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, oranges, bell peppers and tomatoes. The more intense the colour, the higher the antioxidant presence. When it comes to skincare, vitamin C is your best friend. A powerful antioxidant with the ability to prevent and correct hyperpigmentation, increase the skin’s radiance and slow down the signs of ageing, vitamin C is a skincare must-have. Try Lamelle Correctives Vita C Lipid Serum. It features lipid-soluble vitamin C with jojoba and ginger root for a comfortable home treatment that delivers the skin benefits of vitamin C. 5# Stop touching your face Harmful bacteria can be found all around us – from our cellphones to our car keys to our door handles. Most importantly, it’s also on our hands. Even if you’re diligent about washing your hands regularly, there will still be plenty of germs on your fingers throughout the day, and every time you touch your face, you’re transferring this bacteria onto your skin. The same goes for dirty cellphones and pillow cases – the bacteria they transfer to the skin is a leading cause of breakouts. Try to avoid touching your skin as much as possible and don’t pick at blemishes, as this may lead to infection. Clean your cellphone and wash your pillow case regularly – your skin will thank you for it! If a breakout does pop up don’t fiddle with it, and instead apply Lamelle Clarity Active Control, an effective anti-inflammatory gel spot treatment designed to calm the inflammatory processes so that the area can heal as quickly as possible. Whether you’re a dedicated skincare fanatic or a beauty newbie, these simple resolutions are easy to follow and easy to maintain, and will leave you with healthier, more beautiful looking skin. How to avoid a sunburn (and accelerated ageing!) this summer

For many of us, summer is synonymous with time spent outdoors, be it at the beach, next to the swimming pool, or exploring one of our country’s beautiful hiking trails. While spending time outdoors is great for your physical and mental health, it’s important to take precautions when it comes to your skin. Most of us recall a bad sunburn at some point or another, as extended periods of time spent outdoors often results in neglected sun care. Sun burns are painful and dangerous, and it’s known that getting sunburnt increases one’s risk of developing skin cancer. But that’s not all – the sun’s UV rays are also responsible for the formation of lines and wrinkles, accelerated ageing, hyperpigmentation and skin DNA damage. This doesn’t mean that you have to avoid the outdoors altogether, but it does mean that you need to enjoy it responsibly, taking care to protect your skin when you do so. Lamelle Research Laboratories has identified five important things to do this summer to avoid a sunburn (and subsequently, accelerated ageing): Try to avoid the sun during peak hours Between 10am and 2pm, the sun’s UV rays are at their strongest, so it’s best to limit your exposure during these hours. Try to schedule your walks and swims for the early morning or the afternoon. Cover up when you go outside Invest in a wide brimmed hat, sunglasses and a kaftan or wrap to wear when you get out of the water, and try to cover up as much of your skin whenever possible. Reapply your sun protection product regularly By now you know that it is essential to wear a good quality SPF product all year round, even during winter. That’s because the sun’s UVA rays (the ones responsible for accelerated ageing) have the ability to damage your skin even when it is overcast. During summer, once a day is not enough. If you are spending time outdoors you need to reapply your product after every swim (even if it says “water-resistant” on the packaging) or after every hour or two, depending on your skin type. Not only will this help avoid a painful burn, but it will also help prevent the formation of hyperpigmentation and signs of ageing. Don’t forget the hidden spots Most of us don’t take the time to apply SPF to all the smaller parts of our bodies, such as our ears, hairline or feet. Take care to apply your SPF all over – even on the areas you think won’t be exposed. After all, the ears are one of the most common places for skin cancer to form. Moisturise – even if your skin isn’t dry The sun has a dehydrating effect on the skin, and if you’re spending lots of time outside, you may notice your skin getting drier. Don’t wait for your skin to become extremely dry before you moisturise – hydrated skin is healthier, plumper, and looks younger. Apply moisturiser to your face twice a day (even on hot days) and at least once a day on your body to keep your skin healthy, happy and strong. How do you know which sun protection product to choose? There are a lot of different sun care products on the market – knowing what to look for in a product goes a long way in keeping your skin protected. One of the most important things to look out for, is a broad spectrum product, meaning it protects the skin from both UVA rays (the rays responsible for skin ageing) and UVB rays (the rays responsible for sun burn). Look for a sunscreen containing antioxidants, as this will help increase your skin’s resistance to the formation of hyperpigmentation and will also protect skin from the harmful free radicals responsible for accelerated skin ageing. Lamelle has two very powerful sun protection products available – each one unique in its capabilities. Try Helase 50+ or Helase Urban Defensethis summer to protect your skin from sun burn as well as from DNA damage, dark marks and accelerated signs of ageing caused by the sun. Lamelle Helase 50+ (R600.00) In short, this is the ultimate upgrade from your normal, everyday SPF 50. Helase 50+ protects against the full spectrum of sunlight while the super-antioxidant Pycnogenol® destroys harmful free radicals to decrease the number of harmful enzymes that cause thinning and sagging of the skin. On top of this, it decreases the damaging and ageing inflammation in the skin, while actively stopping the effects of aging on the skin and keeping the immunity of the skin intact when exposed to sunlight. Lamelle Helase Urban Defense (R585.00) Lamelle Helase Urban Defence 30 is a multi-functional broad spectrum photo-protector that helps reduce the impact of urban pollution. Potent antioxidants reduce ageing, inflammation and hyperpigmentation. Suitable for all skin types. Key ingredients include UVA and UVB filters that protect against radiation. They also protect against Visible Light which can cause pigmentation in darker skin types. Sun protection allows you to enjoy the best of summer without compromising the health of your skin. Be extra vigilant this season and enjoy healthier, happier skin.   Learn more at www.lamelle.co.za

Five reasons why you should include vitamin C in your summer skincare regime

Skincare enthusiasts know that vitamin C is one of the most important ingredients to include in one’s skincare regime. A powerful antioxidant, vitamin C offers a multitude of benefits. From its anti-ageing properties, to its ability to help fight the formation of hyperpigmentation and breakouts, it’s an all-rounder that no skincare regime should be without. Here are five reasons why vitamin C should be your go-to skincare ingredient this summer: It promotes collagen production Collagen is a protein naturally produced by our bodies, but over time it begins to deplete. When our collagen levels decrease, skin starts to sag and lines and wrinkles set in. Vitamin C is critical for skin to produce collagen through the process of collagen synthesis. More collagen means firmer, more elastic skin with an overall tighter effect. It helps increase the skin’s tolerance for the sun It’s impossible to avoid the sun completely during summer, but it is possible to protect your skin from the effects of the sun’s harmful UV rays. Using an effective vitamin C product alongside your broad spectrum SPF can increase your protection from sun damage. That’s because vitamin C’s antioxidant qualities prevent oxidative damage and neutralise the damage caused by free radicals. When using a vitamin C serum or cream with your sunscreen, you’ll enjoy optimum protection. It protects skin from hyperpigmentation The sun is the number one cause of hyperpigmentation (dark marks) and uneven skin tone. That’s why those of us who are prone to it, experience darkening of hyperpigmentation during summer. When our skin is exposed to the sun, it produces melanin, the substance responsible for pigment in the skin. When melanin is overproduced, it results in hyperpigmentation. Vitamin C helps inhibit the production of melanin by decreasing the activity of an enzyme called tyrosinase. Vitamin C helps to prevent the formation of hyperpigmentation, but it also has the ability to lighten existing hyperpigmentation. It increases radiance Many of us struggle with a dull or tired-looking complexion after winter. Vitamin C is known to brighten the skin, leaving it with that sought-after “lit from within” glow. It’s also a great ingredient for those of us who are feeling (and thus looking) a little tired after a long year, as its brightening effect is particularly effective in areas like around the eyes, where tiredness sets in first. It helps reduce acne and breakouts Acne and breakouts can strike any time of the year, but because skin gets oilier and sweatier during summer, it’s common during the warmer months. Vitamin C has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce inflammation and speed up the process of healing breakouts. It is also effective at treating scars left behind by pimples (known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). Additionally, vitamin C can help reduce the formation of acne thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties that help control the skin’s natural sebum production. Lamelle Research Laboratories has a variety of highly effective vitamin C products available to suit all skin types and concerns: If your skin is prone to sensitivity and you struggle to tolerate vitamin C, try: Lamelle Correctives Vita C-Lipid Serum (R985.00) The gentle anti-age skin booster. Not all skins can tolerate pure Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and many derivative forms aren’t as effective. That’s why Lamelle invested so much time and effort into creating an exciting lipid-soluble form of vitamin C that delivers ascorbic acid-comparable results but is gentle enough to be used on sensitive and dry skin. This serum contains 20% vitamin C, jojoba seed oil and ginger root extract. If your skin tolerates vitamin C well, try: Lamelle Correctives Recharge CE (R960.00) The original Lamelle L-Ascorbic-Acid product, Correctives Recharge CE has been updated with the inclusion of additional 1% tocopherol (vitamin E) and is a thinner suspension that delivers a more tolerable 20% concentration of L-Ascorbic-Acid. It’s intended as the entry-level product for skins that can tolerate Ascorbic Acid. It offers powerful antioxidant protection, reduced signs of ageing, a more even skin tone and increased radiance. If you require intensive results, try: Lamelle Correctives Vita C 30 (R1090.00) The highest-concentration non-prescription Ascorbic acid available. No one thought you could deliver pure ascorbic acid in this high concentration safely. Lamelle created Correctives Vita C 30 with 30% ascorbic acid – and it’s proven safe and effective. Use it for more intensive age correcting results or if you’re exposed to more free radical damage than normal (smokers, road runners or those who spend more time outdoors). If you’re looking to improve the overall condition of your skin while protecting it against UV damage, hyperpigmentation, breakouts and dullness, vitamin C is the ingredient for you this summer. REFIRM: The gold standard in age correction

How Lamelle Research Laboratories is leading the way in age correction with stem cell conditioning media in skincare Age correction and anti-ageing skincare technologies are advancing by the day, and with so many different ingredients and formulas on the market, it’s sometimes difficult to know which one will yield the best outcomes. When it comes to selecting effective anti-ageing skincare products that offer visible results, innovation is key. That’s where Lamelle Research Laboratories comes in. Known for having introduced many firsts in the South African market, Lamelle is a leader in the field of skincare, continuously pushing the boundaries of what products in the medical aesthetics industry can achieve. Some of their most cutting-edge age correction products are formulated with stem cells, a term you’ve probably heard a lot recently, but perhaps don’t know much about. Simply put, a stem cell is an undifferentiated cell which is capable of dividing rapidly and giving rise to more cells of the same type. These cells do not have a specific role, and can become almost any cell that is required by the body. In medicine, stem cells can be used to replace cells damaged by chemotherapy or disease. They can also regenerate damaged tissue.  In skincare, stem cells have the ability to repair skin cells. When applied to the skin, they may help soften fine lines and wrinkles, improve the skin’s texture and tone and promote cell turnover, resulting in an overall younger-looking appearance.  Stem cells contain amino acids and peptides, which are known for their potential to regenerate the skin. Plus, they’re rich in antioxidants, an essential ingredient in our fight against the signs of ageing.  So how are they utilised in skincare? When we say that a skincare product contains stem cells, we don’t mean that it actually has living human cells in it. Instead, we’re able to utilise stem cell conditioning media enriched with antioxidants, and highly active growth factors, anti-inflammatory cytokines as well as collagen and elastin-encouraging peptides. Discover REFIRM, Lamelle’s most innovative age-correction range  REFIRM Serum and REFIRM Elixir Cream are Lamelle Research Laboratories’ s most advanced anti-ageing solutions to date, harnessing the astounding age correction potential of adipose derived stem cell conditioning media (SCCM), a precious elixir born of stem cell biotechnology. Put simply, “conditioning media” is a stem cell’s “liquid essence” – a precious elixir containing a treasure trove of cell-communicating secreted factors. To create this powerful rejuvenating cocktail, Lamelle extracts the stem cells from adipose tissue (fat cells), proven to deliver the best results over other types of stem cells when it comes to skin rejuvenation, and incubate them in a liquid gel. Once the stem cells have secreted their factors, they’re separated from their essence and the latter is used to create REFIRM. The results? A dramatic improvement in firmness; reduced wrinkling and a brighter, more luminous-looking complexion. Witness Lamelle’s exosomes marvel REFIRM’s SCCM contains highly active growth factors, anti-inflammatory cytokines, potent antioxidants, collagen-encouraging peptides and stem-cell derived exosomes that can transform your skin within just 28 days. Exosomes are naturally occurring microscopic messenger particles with the ability to seek and bind to specific “target cells”. Small, yet mighty, they penetrate deep into your dermis, where they instruct your skin to behave optimally. This includes increasing its ceramide production, turning off inflammation, inhibiting the production of pigmentation and encouraging the creation of healthy new capillaries. Exosomes are unique in their ability to penetrate the skin barrier and deliver their load of growth factors (up to three times as much as stem cells) and other molecules directly to the skin cells. This targeted delivery system can help improve the efficacy of skincare products and treatments, resulting in advanced age correction results. Stem cell exosomes are incredibly powerful when it comes to anti-ageing, but they’ve also shown to function in tissue damage repair, chronic wound healing and the inhibition of wound scar formation. Ultimately, they can be utilised to reverse skin ageing unlike any other skincare ingredient.  Lamelle’s Refirm Elixir Cream has an impressive 3 billion exosomes per ml, while Refirm Serum has 4.8 billion exosomes per ml. REFIRM Serum REFIRM Serum contains 98% of pure adipose-derived SCCM, Lamelle’s highest concentration. For optimal results, apply it twice a day to clean, dry skin before layering on your moisturiser. You can also decant your moisturiser and mix it with two drops of the serum. REFIRM Serum is ideal for use after a controlled injury such as cosmetic skin resurfacing. Do not apply to open wounds or skin that’s otherwise irritated or injured. REFIRM Elixir Cream This ultra-luxurious moisturiser contains SCCM, essential antioxidants, vitamins, soothing panthenol, skin-plumping hyaluronic acid and anti-ageing peptides. It is the ideal moisturiser to be used after the application of REFIRM Serum. Those with a drier skin type could apply it at night. Experience cellular level rejuvenation Within just 28 days, REFIRM Serum and REFIRM Elixir Cream push the boundaries of bioengineering to deliver a visible improvement in firmness, wrinkling and luminosity. Age correction benefits you can expect from this duo include: Firmer skin and reduced wrinkling  Enjoy firmer, more youthful-looking skin as anti-wrinkle proteins increase your body’s production of Type 1 collagen, while down-regulating collagenase, an enzyme that degrades your collagen supply. Antioxidant protection Antioxidant proteins protect your fibroblasts (your skin’s “collagen factories”) from UV radiation-induced damage. They also enhance the activity of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase, two free radical-fighting super antioxidants that occur naturally within your skin. A brighter complexion REFIRM’s brightening proteins regulate the production of melanin (the pigment that gives your skin its colour) to inhibit hyperpigmentation and create a more evenly toned, luminous-looking complexion. Ground-breaking renewal Wound-healing proteins reduce redness and inflammation making REFIRM a fantastic asset for anyone having undergone any kind of cosmetic skin resurfacing, be it a fractional laser treatment or a peel. Stem cell skincare may be the most advanced, innovative anti-ageing products available to us, and REFIRM by Lamelle Research Laboratories is a cutting-edge example of what can be achieved with

Reap the rewards of our next-generation retinoid

Introducing NEW RA Advance Cream Lamelle Research Laboratories is excited to unveil NEW RA Advance Cream, the first retinoid product to offer a potent dual retinoic acid precursor blend along with a liposomal delivery system for optimum penetration. A combination of two of the most active yet extremely well tolerated retinoids, RA Advance reduces the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and uneven skin tone and texture while it’s collagen-boosting capabilities enhance skin firmness and elasticity. In addition, you can expect an improvement in radiance courtesy of pigmentation-inhibiting antioxidants – mulberry extract, L-Ergothioneine and lipid soluble vitamin C – while benefiting from super soothing D-Panthenol and Bisabolol.  Not just a proven anti-ageing powerhouse, new RA Advance is also a sensorial delight. Its smooth, silky texture, infused with deeply hydrating hyaluronic acid, ensures optimal absorption while effectively safeguarding your skin barrier. Join the retinoid revolution To appreciate the ground-breaking power of RA Advance Cream’s dual retinoic acid precursor blend – a combination of Retinaldehyde and Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate – you need to know your retinoids. Once Retinol is applied to the skin, it needs to shapeshift twice before being converted into retinoic acid so your skin can reap the benefits. Retinaldehyde, however, is only one conversion away from retinoic acid. This means it delivers faster results than Retinol but with a lower risk of irritation. In fact, Retinaldehyde has been used with great success in patients with rosacea as it has a suppressive effect on the capillaries that cause redness as well as those with sensitive skin. More good news? Retinaldehyde also has antibacterial properties, making it a good choice for those experiencing adult acne. Also, unlike Retinol, Retinaldehyde won’t increase sun sensitivity and doesn’t enter your bloodstream, making it a safer alternative to other retinoids. As for Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, this revolutionary retinoid can penetrate deeper into the skin than Retinol and is also highly stable, allowing it to get to where it needs to go and work harder for longer to rejuvenate your skin. It’s also less irritating than Retinol and has a lower potential to increase your skin’s sun sensitivity. A new era for cutting-edge retinoids If you’ve been using Lamelle’s bestselling RA Cream but are experiencing more advanced signs of ageing and require more correction for photodamage, RA Advance heralds an exciting new era in superior anti-ageing solutions and is also better suited for those struggling with Acne Rosacea. Brighten – don’t lighten – and reveal your most beautiful skin with Lamelle Luminesce

At Lamelle Research Laboratories, treating pigmentation is something we do best and that’s because we do it differently. Unlike most beauty brands that focus on either hiding dark marks or slightly fading the superficial ones, we rely on powerful peptides to intervene with the multiple pathways that lead to pigmentation’s creation. This way, we can target what exists, prevent it from reoccurring and even tackle it on a DNA level. That’s the Lamelle difference. Brighten brilliantly Luminesce by Lamelle Research Laboratories is our most technologically advanced hyperpigmentation program to date. While other skincare brands like to tout one “miracle ingredient”, the Luminesce collection boasts a mega-mix of medical grade actives to create a multi-faceted solution to pigmentation, attacking it in every stage of its creation to reveal a radiant, evenly-toned complexion. The key player in Luminesce’s all-star line-up is actually a trio – a triple-complex peptide blend that hinders the proteins that instruct your skin’s melanin factories to go into overdrive (melanin is the pigmentation that gives your skin its colour). Better yet, it also decreases the transfer of melanin into your surrounding skin cells and inhibits the creation of tyrosinase, an enzyme that can also trigger an overproduction of melanin. The word “overproduction” is important because beautiful skin is all about balance – our peptides will only ever regulate your skin’s melanin content, preventing an excess and not interfering with the amount you were born with. In short, you don’t ever have to worry about depigmenting your skin, a potential side-effect of badly-formulated skin-brightening products. In fact, our peptide complex doesn’t just tackle pigmentation – it also stimulates collagen production, so you can also enjoy anti-ageing benefits while you brighten up! Come and get your glow up! You’ll find our innovative peptide blend in both Luminesce Brighter Day and Luminesce Evening Glow. Both of these pigmentation-inhibiting powerhouses also boast groundbreaking DKK-1 gene technology. Studies have shown that melasma sufferers have a defect in their DKK-1, a protein that’s responsible for pigmentation regulation. Fortunately, Lamelle Luminesce can support the role of DKK-1 gene signaling and safely regulate pigment-producing cells at a DNA level (don’t worry – we’re not changing your DNA; we’re just activating lazy genes responsible for pigmentation overproduction. So, to put it simply, we’re helping your body function naturally, but optimally!). The benefits of our patented peptide blend also extend to our bestselling foaming cleanser, Luminesce Brightening Cleanse. It gently cleanses all skin types without over-drying and is formulated with anti-inflammatory Yarrow and Mallow extract (for the record, inflammation is one of the triggers of pigmentation). Introducing Lamelle Luminesce Rich

A luxurious pigmentation-inhibiting powerhouse offering superior skin barrier support Since its creation, Luminesce by Lamelle has been leading the way in multi-pathway melanogenesis inhibition. In short, it’s our most advanced hyperpigmentation program and now boasts a bright new star – Lamelle Luminesce Rich (R1150). Luminesce Rich is a luxuriously textured pigmentation-inhibiting powerhouse that supports skin barrier function, making it ideal for anyone with a drier skin type wanting to enjoy a more even, radiant-looking complexion and manage pigment irregularities in their skin. A bright new world of benefits Luminesce Rich is so much more than just an “extra moisturising” version of our bestselling Brighter Day – although you’ll appreciate how our indulgent new emollients impart a plush, cushion-like effect. However, unlike Luminesce Brighter Day, Luminesce Rich contains our patented skin barrier repair superhero, Ceramide-P. From the very first application, it gets to work creating a multi-layered lipid structure that mimics healthy human skin to repair your skin’s barrier function while soothing and sealing to ensure your newfound hydration stays put. Luminesce Rich also contains no less than 7 highly effective melanogenesis inhibitors. These include cutting-edge anti-inflammatory amino acids, proven plant extracts, brightening vitamins and innovative Growth Factor-derived brightening peptides, super soothing dexpanthenol and novel genetic modulators. (Don’t worry, we’re not changing your DNA, we’re just activating lazy genes responsible for pigmentation overproduction!) Meet our new A-Team Luminesce Rich still benefits from our hardworking peptide complex that hinders the multiple pathways that lead to an excess of melanin production – but now it’s supported by NEW Nonapeptide-1. Aside from inhibiting the production of melanin, Nonapeptide-1 has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect (and we all know inflammation can trigger hyperpigmentation) and even stimulates the production of your skin’s natural hydrating factors. Luminesce Rich also includes an extremely effective and rapidly-acting amino acid, Undecylenoyl Phenylalanine. It acts as a Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone (MSH) antagonist, meaning that it hinders the formation of pigmentation by preventing MSH from binding to a particular receptor and kicking off a chain of events that lead to an overproduction of melanin. As Lamelle Rich doesn’t contain a retinoid, it can be used twice a day and in combination with any of our correctives serums. As Ceramide-P is a highly effective delivery system, it will improve the absorption and efficacy of any serum. Here’s to a brighter future with Luminesce Rich If you’re wanting unparalleled pigmentation inhibition to create a more luminous-looking complexion AND enhance your skin’s barrier system, NEW Lamelle Luminesce Rich is your ultimate powerhouse. Introducing Re-Firm Elixir Cream

NEW Re-Firm Elixir Cream – a luxurious way to harness the power of stem cells  An innovation like no other, NEW Lamelle Re-Firm Elixir Cream is a cutting-edge anti-ageing solution using the technology of regenerative medicine. Rapid Rejuvenation  Lamelle Re-Firm Elixir Cream is a luxurious velvety-textured moisturiser delivering the purest stem cell conditioned media (SCCM) to rapidly rejuvenate aging skin. It’s other pioneering active ingredients include essential antioxidants, soothing panthenol and hydrating hyaluronic acid along with cell communicating growth factors and anti-ageing peptides. The result? A potent anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and pigment-inhibiting powerhouse! What is SCCM?   Medical science has recently unlocked the astounding regenerative potential of stem cells and Lamelle, having collaborated with biotechnology companies for decades, has been at the forefront of this exciting new technology. Stem cells are living cells, found in various tissues in the body, with a chameleon-like ability to transform into almost any other cell type. Naturally, this makes them essential for rejuvenation as they can morph into whatever tissue your body requires to heal. They also have the ability to communicate, producing “factors” that influence the behavior of surrounding cells. Our new superstar active ingredient, SCCM, is a stem cell’s “liquid essence” – the result of adipose-derived stem cells in a growth medium. As the stem cells proliferate in this medium they produce multiple active ingredients that infuse into the conditioning media. This medium – the SCCM is now a cocktail perfect for ageing and damaged skin cells to bounce back into action. This is delivered into the skin using a natural encapsulation technology to ensure maximal absorption and optimal results. Superior Stem Cells Stem cells are becoming a prolific active ingredient, but their usefulness depends on their origin. Most cosmetics that tout them are using plant-derived stem cells that don’t have the ability to differentiate into other human cell types, nor communicate with them. At best, they function like an antioxidant. This is why Lamelle’s technology makes use of stem cells derived from human fat cells. They’re proven to deliver the very best results with anti-inflammatory properties in comparison to other types of stem cells.  Still, it’s important to note that SCCM does NOT contain human stem cells as there is no need for this – all their rejuvenating benefits are transferred to the elixir.  Witness a Marvel! Along with SCCM, Re-Firm’s Elixir Cream also contains highly active growth factors, anti-inflammatory cytokines and peptides that encourage the protection and creation of collagen. Day by day, your skin’s cells will receive messages that instructs them to function optimally. Suddenly, mature skin begins to act younger – and the effect is nothing short of transformative.  Within just 28 days, expect to see a dramatic improvement in firmness; reduced wrinkling and a more evenly toned and radiant complexion. To enjoy the very best results, apply Re-Firm Elixir Cream twice daily, or our Re-Firm serum as a booster in concerned areas of ageing.  To learn more about Re-Firm Elixir Cream, visit www.lamelle.co.za

Ready for “skinstant” transformation? Exfoliate like a pro with Lamelle Research Laboratories!

Don’t underestimate the power of exfoliation – it’s one of the most important things you can do for healthy, radiant skin. However, not all exfoliators are created equally and some could even be doing more harm than good. To explain, you might have noticed Lamelle Research Laboratories has several much-loved exfoliating products but none are scrubs. This isn’t an accident. For the most part, granular exfoliators, particular those with irregularly shaped particles (here’s looking at you, ground walnut!) have been shown to cause micro-tears that damage and inflame your skin. This is why our range relies on trusted  chemical exfoliators with active ingredients that don’t just exfoliate, but also serve up a host of other skin-loving benefits for “skinstant” transformation. A case in point  Lamelle Correctives Cathepzyme 1 and 2 are both brilliant liquid exfoliators that contain Cathepsin D analog, an enzyme produced by our own bodies, to stimulate your skin’s natural exfoliation process without disrupting your skin’s barrier function. Use either of them three times a week and you’ll also see a clinically proven improvement in wrinkles, moisture levels and firmness – within just 3 months! As Cathepzyme 2 is slightly more concentrated than Cathepzyme 1, it’s your best bet if you don’t have sensitive skin; aren’t new to regular exfoliation or want to improve the look of KP (keratosis pilaris). For those who don’t know, KP – sometimes unflatteringly referred to as “chicken skin” is a harmless yet annoying, genetic skin condition characterised by rough-feeling bumps that typically appear on the back and outsides of the arms, but can occur pretty much anywhere. Fortunately, the right chemical exfoliator can help you smooth it. Gently does it  Another duo that can up your exfoliation game is our Correctives AHA re-texture solutions, available in a concentration of 5% AHA as well as 8% AHA, Formulated for anyone with a combination or oily skin, they’ll reveal smoother, brighter-looking skin and keep your pores free of debris and excess oil. Another plus? Its glycolic acid will also help stimulate your skin’s collagen production while increasing hydration. Yet another way to gently increase your skin’s cellular turnover? New Lamelle Skin Essence Clear Priming Liquid, specially formulated for acne-prone skin, has a refreshing, water-like texture but contains both AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) and BHA (beta hydroxy acids). This way, it can gently exfoliate both the surface of your skin as well as deep inside your pores to help clear your complexion. You’ll also benefit from its other superstar ingredients which include skin barrier-protecting probiotic lysates, soothing panthenol and antibacterial zinc.  Peel and reveal Another great way to get your glow on is to treat your skin to regular peels. Our highly-skilled Lamelle skincare therapists will be able to analyse your skin and recommend the right course of peels to best suit your needs. Still, you should know about the latest peel star on the block and that’s the Rice Bran AO Peel system – a 2-part superficial chemical peel that begins in-office but ends in your own home. Packed with the peeling power of both AHAs and BHA, it also includes antioxidant-packed Japanese rice bran to repair and protect along with collagen-encouraging retinol and soothing panthenol. It’s a clever choice for anyone wanting to create a smoother, more evenly toned complexion while addressing concerns like mild sun spots and early fine lines. The bottom line Regular exfoliation is a must for beautiful skin. Still, not all exfoliators are up to scratch – so choose cleverly. Opt for one of our innovatively formulated chemical exfoliators that can help you reveal more radiant-looking skin and serve up a host of other benefits to ensure that, when it comes to big rewards, you’ll reap the very best

Sensitive skin: Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s environmental – either way, the cure is Forteve

Ask any dermatologist and they’ll tell you half their patients consider themselves as having “sensitive skin”. Thing is, skin is sensitive by nature. You need to treat it with tender loving care or, regardless of your “skin type”, you could end up experiencing sensitivity. Also, you should know that “sensitive skin” isn’t really a clinical diagnosis but more of an expression that your skin has a tendency to be easily irritated. But why is that? For the most part, this all comes down to the protective fatty outer layer of your skin – the lipid barrier. A chat about fat Think of your skin’s barrier as a brick wall held together by cement. The bricks are your skin’s cells and the cement is partly composed of waxy lipid molecules called ceramides. When your barrier is healthy it does a great job of keeping moisture in and irritants out. When it’s impaired, you’re missing some of that “cement” and this allows moisture to escape and irritants, be it chemicals, wind, heat or UV rays. The result is seemingly unquenchable dryness and skin that’s quick to react with symptoms like redness, stinging, burning or itching. Many people who don’t consider themselves to be the sensitive type can experience bouts of sensitive skin if they unwittingly damage their skin’s barrier. It’s surprisingly easy to do – just ask anyone who’s over-exfoliated before applying a highly fragranced moisturiser! Others, however, drew a genetic short straw and were simply born with a lipid barrier that isn’t as naturally robust as someone else. In this case, you could say you were born with sensitive skin. (Thanks mom!) Beat the burn Happily, whether you’ve always had easily irritated skin; suffer from an impaired barrier condition such as atopic dermatitis or are simply going through a sensitive phase, real relief is at hand. Forteve by Lamelle Pharmaceuticals is the only skin barrier repair solution with a patented pseudoceramide that mimics a healthy epidermal bi-layer.   After years of intensive research, Lamelle has proved that, while replenishing lipids is key to restoring a healthy skin barrier, it’s how you arrange them – in a very specific pattern – that makes the most dramatic difference. Thus, new Forteve contains a patented pseudoceramide that, once applied to the skin, undergoes a phase transformation. It literally arranges itself into multiple layers – as well as the correct patterns – that mimic the unique properties of a healthy epidermal lipid bi-layer. Better than the rest    Currently, the standard method to improve the symptoms of atopic dermatitis is to apply a 5% urea cream. Our trials, however, have shown that applying our pseudoceramide serves up a 150% improvement over those treated with the urea cream. Talk about a dramatic difference! The bottom line Ultimately, whether you’ve always struggled with sensitive skin or are going through a, ahem, rough patch, know that your skin deserves real relief. To start, use Forteve Foaming Cleanser, a daily cleanser so gentle it can even be used on babies’ skin. Next, get those lipids back with either our Forteve Soothing Lotion or Cream. Both are formulated with our patented pseudoceramide complex to fortify and restore barrier function while soothing irritation. Lastly, if you’re dealing with severely dry or cracked skin on areas like your hands or feet, get the TLC you need with Forteve Intensive Urea 5% Cream. This way you get the heavy hydration of urea but fortified with the intuitive biomimicry of our pseudoceramide complex. In no time at all, you’ll get to enjoy the healthy, skin barrier you deserve – whether you were born with it or not.

Start your clear skin journey with ACleo

Blackheads and pimples. We all get them… we all don’t appreciate them… and chances are you’ve tried everything to get rid of them – from useless pore strips to those “miracle” vacuum tools you’ve seen on TikTok! If you’ve searched high and low and still haven’t found a weapon of choice, now’s the time to consider a proven one – ACleo by Lamelle Pharmaceuticals. What is ACleo? Acleo is a range of breakthrough skincare products specifically formulated for people with acne-prone skin. To start, you’ll want to get your hands on the must-have kit containing an oral supplement and a targeted spot treatment.  The all-natural superstar ingredients in the ACleo supplement are zinc and vitamin B. Both are proven to calm inflammation in the skin. This allows existing pimples to heal faster and creates an unfriendly environment for future breakouts. (The bacteria that causes acne thrives in an inflammatory environment.) Better yet, this winning duo also helps your body regulate it’s oil production. Less oil, fewer clogged pores, less acne! As for the topical spot treatment, this contains anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial actives plus pore-exfoliating salicylic acid. It can be applied directly to spots multiple times a day and, because it’s a lightweight clear gel, nobody has to know you’re wearing it. Love that! Meet the gang While the ACleo kit can be used with any skincare routine, you’ll get the best results by using the entire ACleo collection. This starts with the foaming cleanser to remove excess oil without overdrying while zinc and panthenol calm and soothe. Next up, step away from your exfoliator! It’s a myth that you can scrub away acne – harsh, grainy scrubs will only inflame your skin further and spread acne causing bacteria. Instead, use a cotton pad to apply ACleo toner. It includes gentle exfoliating acids to rid your pores of dirt as well as the dead, dry skin cells that can clog them. To finish up, apply ACleo Lotion. It contains soothing anti-inflammatories and, despite its lightweight texture, will give your skin all the hydration it needs without the heaviness thanks to water-binding hyaluronic acid. We’ve got your back! Last but not least, let’s talk about body acne. Rather than cover it, let’s get rid of it with ACleo Body Breakout Spray! Again, it’s full of acne-fighting inflammation-busters, oil-controlling ingredients and salicylic acid to keep your pores clean and clear. Being in a spritzer bottle, makes it easy to treat hard-to-reach areas. Bacne – here’s looking at you! Ultimately, if you’re struggling with spots, ACleo has everything you need to start your clear skin journey today.  For more information: www.acleo.co.za

Ageing gracefully with Dermaheal

The idea of “ageing gracefully” means something different to everyone. At Lamelle Research Laboratories, we believe it’s being able to look like the very best version of you, nobody else, for as long as possible. This is why we’ve created our cutting-edge Dermaheal collection, an innovative range of skincare that addresses the three root causes of ages. These are chronic inflammation, something you can read more about here, cell stagnation and damaging enzymes that increasingly ravage your skin’s cells and structure. What is cell stagnation? Your skin is made up of billions of cells and, to function at its best, these cells need to communicate with each other, relaying important messages like “renew” and “clear waste”. Over time, our cells start to lose the connections that convey these important messages and the results become visible in your skin. Think a loss of elasticity, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, dullness and dryness. Knowing this, we’ve dedicated years of research and relied on Nobel Prize-winning technology to create a unique and patented blend of recombinant human growth factors that you’ll find in all Dermaheal products. These human growth factors are created in a laboratory to be exact replicas of your own growth factors found naturally in your body. By applying them topically, they help restore your skin’s ability to communicate and, within just a few weeks, your skin will start behaving in a dramatically more youthful way. Suddenly, millions of messages to perform vital tasks like exfoliate, heal and produce healthy, fresh collagen start getting “heard”. Ultimately, skin that had once slowed its every natural process receives an invigorating jolt on a cellular level to perform at its very best. When good cells go bad Many anti-ageing skincare products focus on helping your skin produce more collagen and elastin, the proteins that give our skin its youthful firmness. While this is important, it’s a bit like using a cup to remove a flood of water from your house while your leaky roof is still letting in the rain. This is because, as we get older, our bodies don’t just slow down the production of collagen, they also attack it! To explain, we all produce matrix metalloproteinases (yep, it’s mouthful – that’s why we call them MMPs), an enzyme that’s very helpful when it comes to things like wound-healing. In fact, its main job is to snip out excessive, old and damaged collagen where it’s not needed to help pave the way for new, fresh collagen. Alas, thanks to the passage of time, UV exposure and unchecked inflammation, we see an uptick in these once helpful enzymes and then you’re dealing with a case of MMPs gone wild. Suddenly, MMPs can have such a collagen-killing effect on the skin that, much like that annoying junk email we can’t unsubscribe from, we simply have to block them. This is where Dermaheal gets to shine with its potent and proven mix of all-natural MMP inhibitors that include the super antioxidant Pycnogenol, Purslane extract and the Nobiletin. (FYI, Nobiletin is a flavonoid that also helps turn off chronic inflammation on a cellular level. Talk about a great multi-tasker!) The bottom line At the end of the day, who wouldn’t want to look and feel as vital and youthful for as long as possible? While you can always consider going under the knife (no judgies!), you can also rely on our years of clinical research in creating what we believe is our most powerful anti-ageing skincare collection to date. It doesn’t just tackle the signs of aging but addresses the root causes so you can enjoy firmer, smoother, less lined and more radiant skin for as long as possible. To us, this is the very essence of aging with grace. Learn more at www.lamelle.co.za

Here’s what a skincare expert thinks of the biggest Tik Tok beauty trends of 2022

Tik Tok has become a major platform for beauty tips, tricks, advice and tutorials. From creating the perfect curl to mastering a cut crease, beauty Tik Tok offers an overwhelming amount of information, but like most social platforms, it’s not all good. While it’s the perfect platform for makeup artists and beauty experts to share their knowledge, it also allows those who are not educated on the topic, to share their ideas, and potentially create a viral video that can cause more harm than good. We asked Karen Bester, Medical Trainer at Lamelle Research Laboratories, to separate fact from fiction. She investigated some of the top Tik Tok skincare trends of 2022, and this is her professional take on them: Slugging Slugging originated from K-Beauty (Korean Beauty), and involves one simple act: Coating your skin with an occlusive like petroleum jelly before going to bed. The concept is that the occlusive will act as a barrier and seal in moisture, resulting in soft and moisturised skin the next morning. Karen says: “Here I believe that balance is very important. We know that occluding the skin will trap water which will in turn help the enzymes in the skin to exfoliate any dry cells that need removing. If we, however, trap too much water this can lead to maceration which is never a good thing. So slug along when your skin is feeling dry in general or after having a treatment, when your skin needs to heal. Occlusion is not required every night though; your skin should have the ability to trap enough water if the lipid bi-layer is intact. ALSO – long-term use of occlusive products can be comedogenic – i.e. cause breakouts.” Moisture sandwich Another Korean technique, a ‘moisture sandwich’ refers to the act of applying products to damp skin (as opposed to dry skin), because it is suggested that the ingredients will trap the moisture from the water and thus better hydrate the skin. The first product is usually a humectant (a water-absorbing product) and this is followed by an occlusive (to seal in the moisture). Karen says: “It is true and well-researched that applying your products to your skin when your skin is still moist after cleansing does help your skin to trap higher concentrations of water and keep it better hydrated. Applying a humectant (hyaluronic acid is my favourite) first will also help to draw the water in and will trap the water in the skin. A good moisturiser, applied over the hyaluronic acid-containing serum, will mimic the skin’s biology and oils and will keep this moisture trapped. It will also allow the skin to ‘breathe’. Occluding the skin is not required and has its own challenges as discussed under Slugging.” Pore vacuums A pore vacuum is a device that uses suction to remove oil and dirt from the pores in an attempt to deep clean the skin. These devices are readily available online, sometimes for as little as R120. Karen says: “I wish that these did work – we could then just go for relaxing facials and not need to have deep cleanse facials with extractions. Unfortunately, these tools can be quite damaging and cause painful bruising without extracting the comedos. Especially when the skin is not prepared well or with larger, more stubborn congested areas. You would need to cleanse and moisturise the skin, maybe use an enzymatic exfoliator just to loosen the congested areas.” Skin cycling The skin cycling trend was originally posted on Tik Tok by a dermatologist. It involves a four-day skincare cycle, during which active ingredients are applied to the skin for two days (usually a chemical exfoliant on day one and a retinoid on day two), and then the skin is given two days to “rest” (only moisturisers are applied – no active ingredients), before starting the cycle again. The cycle is thought to be good for sensitive skins that can’t use active ingredients every day. Karen says: “We love this trend. Even though it was made Tik Tok famous around a year ago, this has been how medical practitioners have always included more aggressive ingredients that have a side effect profile, into skin routines. This removes the need to add lots of ingredients over each other, it lowers the risk for irritation when using products that contain high concentrations of ingredients and it gives us the ability to also combine ingredients used on the skin and look at stimulating the skin in different ways.” Face taping As strange as it sounds, face taping involves applying tape to areas of the face where wrinkles might form, in an attempt to “straighten” the skin and give it a more youthful appearance for longer. Karen says: “I have not personally tried face-taping but I think it is a fabulous cosmetic tool to have droopy skin look younger – Joan Collins cannot be wrong! Unless you are ripping off the top layer of the skin – the corneum. That is not a good thing and can cause semi-permanent damage to the skin. Of you are using tapes, maybe use an oil to remove the glue so you do not hurt your skin when removing them.” Salt water cleanse Based on the concept that skin looks glowy when you emerge from a swim in the ocean, the salt water facial cleansing trend took off on Tik Tok earlier this year. Users used salt water to cleanse their skin twice a day, before applying their skincare products, and recommended the practice to enhance the skin’s radiance, as well as to treat and prevent breakouts. Karen says: “There is very little data on the use of salt water in skincare. In ancient (pre-2000) medicine we used salt water to rinse wounds and mouths to lower bacterial load and assist in healing. I do not believe that salt water cleansing will have any negative effects on the skin. The only challenge might be if the salt content in the water is extremely high. In this

Inflammaging and how to fight it with Lamelle Dermaheal

The last few years have been a wild ride. You’re working like a dog. You’re tired. You’re stressed. And you can see it all over your skin. And nope, it’s definitely not all in your head. One of the main triggers of inflammaging – aging that’s caused by chronic, low-grade inflammation – is stress. Many other lifestyle factors contribute too, including exposure to pollution, smoking, a poor diet and unprotected sun exposure. Aside from making tweaks where you can, (hello yoga, bye bye ciggies!), you can also protect your skin from imflammaging using the Dermaheal range by Lamelle Research Laboratories. We’ll get into how its innovative formulation can make the world of difference in a bit, but first, you should know exactly how inflammaging is wreaking havoc on your skin. Know thy enemy Inflammation isn’t always bad. In fact, it’s your body’s way of putting up a red flag that says “I’m hurt”, allowing for a chain reaction of healing to place. However, when your body is perpetually under attack from all the aggressors we mentioned before, it results in subtle yet chronic inflammation that “simmers” in your skin, creating a laundry list of unwanted effects. These include – brace yourself – a loss of collagen and elastin resulting in sagging skin and wrinkles as well as a nose dive in hyaluronic acid and GlycosAminoGlycans (GAGs) which means drier, thinner skin with a rougher texture. You’ll also get to “enjoy” an increase in MMPs, (enzymes that essentially destroy your collagen), an uptick in hyperpigmentation and the increased expression of PGE-2, an inflammatory hormone that’s linked to skin cancer and poor wound healing. So again, if you’re feeling the pressure and think it’s affecting your complexion, you’re 100-percent correct. Also, you should know that chronic low-level inflammation also has a negative effect on every tissue in your body, not just your skin. Can we get an “eek”? Turn down the heat As we said, there are things you can do to mitigate the triggers of chronic inflammation. But modern living and the fact that inflammaging is proven to increase as we get older means you also need to fight back. A great way to do it is with our Dermaheal line. Our most cutting-edge collection yet, it was specifically created to target the three root causes of aging – cell stagnation, damaging enzymes (here’s looking at you MMPs!) and – you guessed it – chronic inflammation. Each of our Dermaheal creams – Ultra Renewal, Renewal Cream ,Cellular Repair and Eye Regeneration Plus – contain a brilliant mix of anti-inflammatory growth factors, an MMP-inhibiting complex to zap those collagen-destroying enzymes in their tracks and an exclusive blend of inflammation-fighting cytokines. The latter are small proteins that essentially tell your skin to switch off inflammation, stopping the scourge of inflammaging in its tracks. Dermaheal products also contain Nobiletin, a botanical flavonoid that turns off chronic inflammation on a genetic level, in the nucleus of your cell. This way, your body can benefit from acute inflammation when it needs to heal from an injury, but the simmering kind that degrades your tissues gets nipped in the bud. Inflammation-fighting aside, the range is also formulated with a non-irritating form of collagen-stimulating retinol, mega-hydrating hyaluronic acid fragments and a slew of cell protecting antioxidants that will also go a long way towards tamping down chronic inflammation while protecting your cells from damaging free radicals. The bottom line Ultimately, inflammaging is difficult to avoid, regardless of what lifestyle changes you make. But you can take action to mitigate its damaging and ageing effects on your skin with Dermaheal. A potent inflammation-fighting anti-ageing line-up, it promises to tackle the main causes of ageing, including inflammaging, so you can enjoy a firmer, smoother, less lined, more radiant-looking complexion for longer – regardless of what your crazy schedule is looking like. Now go and take care of those deadlines and leave taking the very best care of your skin up to Lamelle. After all, it’s what they do best.  For more information or to find a stockist near you visit: www.lamelle.co.za  Follow us: @lamellersa

Protect and repair – right down to the DNA level – with Lamelle Research Laboratories Nourish

We all know that sun exposure is bad news for our skin. It causes lines and wrinkles. It’s the fast track to sagging skin. It’s a free pass to pigmentation. You get it. We know you get it. But did you know that the sun also damages your DNA? (But here’s a spoiler alert for you – Lamelle’s Nourish range will help you prevent and repair that. Phew!) Not so fun in the sun When anything wreaks havoc on your DNA, this injury is referred to as a “dimer” and the sun can cause them in two ways. The first, known as “direct damage”, is caused when the UV rays directly penetrate your skin. The second type of damage – “indirect damage” – is more insidious. In this case, the sun’s energy causes the molecules in your cells’ nucleus to morph into free radicals. These unstable atoms, if left unchecked, can cause cell destruction, premature ageing and even dread diseases like cancer. We call this indirect damage because, in this instance, the sun isn’t directly destroying your skin, but triggering a dangerous reaction that most certainly will. You should also know that the sun isn’t the only culprit when it comes to the creation of free radicals. Pollution, smoking and even your own body in several conditions, be it a stressful time or exercising too much or too little, can all lead to the production of these potentially deadly molecules. Protect and repair  Knowing that sun damage and free radicals are very bad news for your skin, Lamelle Research Laboratories have created our bestselling Nourish collection to prevent the signs of ageing while protecting your skin from the damage that contributes to it. To protect your skin from the sun’s direct damage, you can rely on Nourish Multi-Active Sun 30, a hydrating sunscreen that can be worn in place of a moisturiser if you have an oilier skin type or layered over either of the Nourish day creams if you’re more on the dry side. Then, to take care of indirect damage, our moisturisers contain OGG-1, a form of photolyase with the ability to find and correct dimers. Better yet, this enzyme works fast, correcting up to 94% of damage within just 6 hours of application! Don’t let free radicals live rent free So, that’s dimers taken care of. But what about those pesky free radicals? Happily, our Nourish line, including the sunscreen, is jam-packed with potent and proven free radical slayers that mop up these unstable atoms like a sponge. One is Pycnogenol, a potent antioxidant derived from French Maritime Pine Bark. It protects your skin’s collagen and elastin, calms inflammation and increases your body’s natural hyaluronic acid (HA) content. (HA is a mega-moisturising water-binding molecule and a must for hydrated, plump-looking skin.)  The Nourish collection’s other heavyweight antioxidant is astaxanthin, a keto-carotenoid derived from Green Algae. It’s superpower is the ability to share multiple electrons, allowing it to neutralise a multitude of free radicals at once. It also bolsters your own army by protecting your skin’s first-line antioxidants and assists with their release. But that’s not all! It also lowers your MMP production rate (enzyme’s that can damage your collagen if they’re over expressed), calms inflammation and even boost your skin’s immune system.  The bottom line When it comes to taking the very best care of your skin, don’t mess around with anti-ageing skincare products that only treat the symptoms of ageing. Protect and repair your skin right down to the DNA level with Nourish by Lamelle Research Laboratories. This cutting-edge collection will unlock your body’s most powerful anti-aging strategies so you can confidently put your best face forward today, knowing your skin will also be taken care of in the future.

The 5% AHA formula is a good choice for anyone who’s just stepping their toes into the AHA product arena. (Another great thing about AHA products is that they can help enhance the absorption of all your other active ingredients.) Just a word of caution, especially for those new to using AHAs – glycolic acid can increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun – and not just on the day’s your wear it, but for up to a week after discontinuing use. Lamelle Correctives HA+ Serum: Our most innovative hyaluronic acid serum

If you’re serious about skincare, chances are you’ve got a mega-moisturising hyaluronic acid serum (also referred to as HA) in your artillery. Still, it’s hard to believe there once was a time when few had even heard of it and many assumed it was an exfoliator. Thing is, HA isn’t acidic at all. In fact, it helps to replenish your skin with much-appreciated hydration, making it a must for every skin type and especially those that have dry skin. This is why Lamelle Correctives HA+ Serum is such a loved and lauded product. However, there are many more reasons as to why it’s a hydrator above all others and we’ll get to that in a bit – but first – for those still unfamiliar with the skincare superstar, let’s get you up to speed fast. Why HA is here to stay   HA is a water-binding, lubricating molecule that occurs naturally in your body. Much of it resides in your skin where its job is to help it retain moisture. As it’s able to attract and hold up to a thousand times its weight in water – and then hold it deep within your skin – it does this extremely well. The result? Happy, hydrated skin that looks younger thanks to a plumping effect that can obliterate fine dehydration lines and soften the look of wrinkles. More good news? Research suggests that HA has antioxidant properties that can help mitigate the effects of sun damage. Not all HA serums are created equally Now that the world’s woken up to this moisture magnet’s seemingly miraculous ability to hydrate and plump, you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to finding an HA-infused skincare product. Thing is, not all of them are created equally. As an example, some might only contain the teensiest smidge of HA and most will only contain one particular type. This is where Lamelle Correctives HA+ Serum gets to shine. Thanks to years of research, we’ve created the most innovative HA product in the world – one that contains five different types of HA to help hydrate your skin on multiple levels. Ready to break it down? Cross-linked HA hydrates the surface of the skin  Hydrolysed HA penetrates the deeper layers  Acetyl HA lingers longer, for continued hydration over a longer period Phyto HA helps retain hydration by reducing water loss through the skin Lucky number five As for our fifth type of HA, it’s a bit of an overachiever. Say hello to HAFi fragments, a range of very specifically sized HA particles that stimulate your skin to make even more of your own natural HA. This is great because your skin’s natural HA content starts to dwindle as you age. (You can also speed up this process if you’re a smoker, skip out on sun protection and don’t protect your skin from the scourge of cell-damaging free radicals.) Also, as an added bonus, HAFi fragments help speed up your skin’s natural healing and cellular turnover process by regulating inflammation. But wait – there’s more! Thought we were done? Nope. Here’s the thing that makes Lamelle Correctives HA+ Serum one of the most innovative in the world – it’s the first skincare product to contain TWO hyaluronidase inhibitors! Why is this a big deal? Hyaluronidase are enzymes that occur naturally in your body; increase with age and degrade the HA content in your skin. Keeping them in check is a must if you’re on a quest to enjoy hydrated, firm and plump-feeling skin for as long as possible.  Clearly, everyone can do with an HA serum in their skincare routine. But it’s only our Corrective HA+ Serum that, serves up a multi-pronged approach to hydration, the stimulation and protection of your own natural HA plus the ability to reverse the effects of ageing and sun damage. So, why settle for anything less when Lamelle has created the best?

Beat hot flashes naturally with Lady Prelox

When you hear about hot flashes, most women immediately think “menopause” and reckon it’s something they’d only have to worry about in their mid to late 40s. Thing is, this annoying, make-up ruining, life-interrupting symptom can affect you as early as your late 30s during perimenopause, the lead up to your final period. Even more annoying? While, on average, perimenopause lasts around 4 to 6 years, it can bother you for as long as 10. That’s a long time to want to walk around with a fan in your handbag but, happily, you don’t have to. Lady Prelox, an all-natural supplement developed especially for women, has been proven to help alleviate hot flashes. But before we get into why it’s a brilliant solution to an age-old problem, let’s first chat about why your body’s thermostat feels like it’s running wild and what you can do to temper it.  Hormones and hot flashes   When you enter perimenopause, a time when your ovaries start to run low on eggs, you can expect hormonal fluctuations that trigger a laundry list of symptoms. These include mood changes, a loss of libido, vaginal dryness, trouble concentrating, exhaustion, migraines, insomnia, night sweats and the aforementioned “super fun” hot flashes.  Fortunately, there are lots of things you can do to improve your experience as you transition into the period-free part of your life. For starters, don’t underestimate the importance of a healthy diet and getting enough exercise. You also definitely don’t want to smoke. While the increased risk of cancer should be enough to put anyone off, studies have shown that female smokers are more likely to go into menopause earlier than non-smokers. They’re also more likely to experience more frequent as well as more intense symptoms, particularly hot flashes. So what’s a woman to do?   Lifestyle changes aside, you have several treatment options that include taking hormone therapy and medications like low-dose antidepressants. Still, many women prefer to go the natural route and this is where things can get murky. For example, black cohosh is a herb commonly used with the intention of improving the symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes. However, there’s not enough evidence to suggest it’s effective and there’s no guarantee you’re ever buying a product containing the very particular variant of herb proposed to suppress the flash. Fortunately, not every natural option is a gamble and this is where Lady Prelox fits in – a million miles ahead of the competition.  Patented and proven  A patented estrogen-free health supplement, Lady Prelox contains premium plant-based ingredients that include Pycnogenol® (a derivative of French maritime pine bark extract), Rosvita® (rosehip extract) and two amino acids – L-Arginine and L-Citrulline. Together, they’ve been clinically proven to significantly improve hot flashes and night sweats in peri-menopausal women in as little as four weeks! Better yet, it wasn’t just the study’s participants’ ability to beat the heat that improved. Lady Prelox also enhanced their ability to focus and reduced their feelings of anxiety.  But wait – there’s more!  As if these weren’t all the reasons you’d need to consider Lady Prelox a must for any woman entering the next phase of life, there’s another big benefit you’ll want to know about: Lady Prelox is also clinically proven to boost sexual function and satisfaction in women between 37 and 45 by a whopping 88%. It’s also proven to boost sexual satisfaction in menopausal and even post-menopausal women by 60% and more. Again, these improvements were all evident within just 30 days. Talk about a brilliant bonus! If you’re struggling with hot flashes and other menopause-related symptoms – or simply want to enhance your sex life – Lady Prelox really is the obvious all-natural solution.  Visit: https://www.preloxrange.co.za/ for more information

Irregular periods? Consider an all-natural solution like Ovaria

When life is busy, weeks fly by like days. Unless you’re tracking your period via an app or pay close attention to the calendar, you might not even notice should you miss a period. Also, if you’re dealing with a spotty cycle or taking birth control to actively “skip” a period, it can be even harder to keep track. Still, once you realise you’re not menstruating the way you expect to, it’s a sign that shouldn’t be ignored. Why is my period irregular? First up, every woman is different and lots of things can affect the way they experience menstruation. However, your period could be considered irregular if the time between them starts to change or the duration begins to vary significantly. In this case, make an appointment to chat with your doctor or gynaecologist. The causes of a period gone astray really do run the gamut and can range from overdoing it in the exercise department to having fibroids (typically non-cancerous muscular tumours) growing in your uterus. Still, one of the most common conditions that can cause an irregular period is an all-too-common hormonal disorder, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). According to the South African Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, it affects as many as 20% of our country’s women in their childbearing years and is linked to 40% of its cases of female infertility. The good news, however, is that it’s very treatable and the negative effect it can have on your fertility can, in many cases, be reversed. It’s all about your hormones To understand PCOS – as well as how to treat and beat it – realise that the root cause is unbalanced hormones. To start, sufferers typically produce more androgen (the male hormone). This causes the ovaries to not release an egg each month and other negative effects include oily skin, an increase in acne and excessive hair growth – often in unwanted places such as on your face! Another hormone that goes haywire when you’ve got PCOS? Insulin. In fact, as many as 70% of PCOS sufferers will also be insulin resistant. In this case, your body starts to produce an excessive amount of insulin because it’s stopped responding to the important message this hormone signals – that it’s time to use the sugar in your blood for energy. Instead, the glucose just languishes in your veins, elevating your bloody sugar levels, and eventually gets stored away as fat. This is why being insulin resistant and struggling to lose weight, particularly around the belly area, go hand in hand. It’s also why suffering from PCOS and not treating it can dramatically increase your risk of developing diabetes. Bring back the balance Clearly, having an irregular period isn’t something you want to ignore so chat with your doctor to get a diagnosis. If it turns out to be PCOS, get onto a treatment plan as soon as possible for the sake of your fertility and your health. This might involve making lifestyle changes, like scheduling more treadmill time and improving your diet, as well as taking prescription medication that will help balance your hormones. A proven all-natural solution Another way you can ease the symptoms of PCOS is via a proven supplement – Ovaria by Lamelle Pharmaceuticals A great tasting powder that can be added to any liquid, Ovaria contains a blend of all-natural ingredients including Myo-inositol. This naturally occurring carbohydrate won’t aggravate insulin resistance. Instead, it helps to regulate your body’s response to it, reducing your risk of developing diabetes as well as other PCOS-related complications. Better yet, when you manage your insulin levels, you’ll reduce your androgen levels. As a result, Ovaria can support weight loss while reducing the severity of acne as well as excessive hair growth. The other great thing about Ovaria is that it’s clinically proven. Studies show it can restore the regularity of your menstrual cycle and increase your ovulation rate to enhance your fertility in as little as 16 weeks! The bottom line If you discover your irregular period is being caused by PCOS, know that you’re not alone. There are lots of ways you can treat it and one of the most natural, non-prescription as well as proven solutions is Ovaria. It’s helped ease the PCOS symptoms of hundreds of woman around the globe so why shouldn’t you be one of them?
