At Waterfall College, we love to celebrate our students and what better opportunity than Speech Day – a time to come together as students, staff and families to recognise and honour the Class of 2026, who have contributed so richly to our school during their time on the iThemba Campus.
On Friday, 16 October, the Waterfall College community gathered to celebrate another successful academic year and to bid farewell to the Class of 2026. It was a day marked by gratitude and joy, as we relived special memories and took time to stand with these incredible young people as they prepared to step into the next exciting phase of their lives.
Guest speaker Sarah Ferguson encouraged students to discover their why, to live with passion and purpose, to live deeply and tread lightly, beautifully echoing the sentiments of the school. Sarah is the CEO of Breathe Conservation, a former national swimmer and a Guinness World Record holder for being the first person to circumnavigate Easter Island on a non-stop, unassisted swim. Sarah’s story had guests spellbound – motivating and inspiring each and every one to make a difference where they are.
The Class of 2026 have shone academically, demonstrating what can be achieved when natural gifts, hard work and nurturing support come together. Top academic honours went to Angelica Kaye-Eddie (Dux) and Ella Schnell (Proxime Accessit to Dux), with 21 students achieving colours or honours for their efforts. Special thanks to the teachers and parents who have supported them all the way.
Beyond academics, students were honoured for their integrity, service, creativity and kindness. As Principal Bryony Green shared: “What the world needs now is more humanity. Serve with integrity, purpose and care. Your future is waiting!”
