The Bonegio Spanish Dance Academy and Company has a legacy of over 40 years. It all began in 1984 when Gillian returned from a year-long trip of studying and dancing in Spain and had a dream of passing her passion on to young students, so that they too, could enjoy the dance genre.
Gillian teaches students of all ages, ranging from 7yrs to 77yrs. She has studios in Roosevelt Park, Randburg, Ruimsig and Bedfordview and also teaches at the National School of the Arts in Braamfontein. Students are offered opportunities to do exams, competitions, festivals and perform in shows (both at events and in theatres). Gillian’s students also have the privilege of dancing to live flamenco guitar. The really dedicated students are given the opportunity to join the company and dance professionally once they have matriculated.
This is a dance form that really feeds the soul and one can continue for many, many years.
