We are delighted to announce that Wingu Academy will be launching its Online Specialist Unit for Special Education Needs in 2024. This unit aims to provide targeted support and resources for students with diverse learning needs, reaffirming our commitment to offering innovative, inclusive, and equal learning opportunities for every student. Below, we unpack the offerings of this new unit.

Special Education Needs:

The Online Specialist Unit will feature a comprehensive learning program crafted by a team of experienced and qualified professionals in the fields of Special Education, Psychology, and Educational Technology.

Their expertise has resulted in programs designed to cater to primary and high school students with a range of Special Education Needs (SEN), including:

  • Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Speech and language disorders
  • Emotional and behavioural disorder
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and
  • Learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia

To ensure personalised learning experiences, Individualised Learning Plans (ILPs) will be developed based on input from educators, parents, and students themselves. The ILPs will encompass learning objectives, strategies, accommodations, and assessments tailored to each student’s unique requirements.

A learning platform will be seamlessly integrated into the program, catering to various learning styles and paces while accommodating assistive technology. It will present information in multiple formats, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for all students. Moreover, students will have the option to choose between self-paced learning or live classes with real-time interaction, based on their preferences for synchronous learning. Both options will grant students 24/7 access to essential resources and recorded lessons, empowering them to engage in their studies at their convenience and pace.

Extensive mentoring and support will be readily available to students, while parents will receive regular updates on their children’s progress. Additionally, webinars and resources will be provided to support parents in assisting their children effectively.

Student Benefits:

The online nature of the Special Education Needs platform offers various advantages that students wouldn’t typically receive in a traditional classroom setting. For instance:

Customised learning tailored to individual needs, strengths, and learning styles fosters a more productive educational environment.

Learning from the comfort of home reduces anxiety and sensory overload experienced in large classrooms.

We are excited to launch this initiative, which will undoubtedly make a positive impact on our students’ learning journeys.
