Breakfast Pumpkin Porridge:

In today’s recipe, I have cooked pumpkin, apples, and oats together and made a breakfast porridge. I have added little cinnamon powder and nutmeg. This porridge is great for babies 8 months and above.

Pumpkins can be introduced to babies at 6 months of age. They are a good source of vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, and calcium. The orange colour of pumpkins comes from the beta-carotene present in them. It is an important antioxidant which body converts into vitamin A.

While selecting pumpkins for baby food, pick ones which are hard to touch and are heavy for their size. Skip those which are soft to touch and lighter in weight. I like to buy smaller ones. They are quite easy to work around. And especially for baby food, I prefer smaller ones. Since storing in freezer becomes easier. I usually cut them into small pieces and freeze them and use it as needed. Sometimes, I also bake these pumpkins with the little cinnamon and puree them. I freeze this puree and use it as needed.

A quick and delicious breakfast porridge for your little ones.

Ingredients

1 cup apple (chopped)

1/2 cup cooked pumpkin pieces or pumpkin puree

1/3 cup oats

2 dashes of cinnamon powder

1 dash of nutmeg powder

1/2 cup water

Instructions

In a pot add all the above ingredients.

Cook till apples and oats are well done.

Once cooked, let it cool down a bit and then run it through a food processor.

Serve.
