Kiwi Lime Lemonade is a fun party drink for kids and grown-ups as well. With spring and summer approaching this is a perfect thirst quencher. In the following recipe, I have blended kiwi and lemon juice together. To add a little aromatic flavour, I have added little cardamom seeds. Lemon juice with cardamom together they go very well. Finally to add a fun and nutritious element to this drink, I added some pre-soaked Chia seeds.
Kiwi is a great source of vitamin A, vitamin C, fibre, potassium, and folate. Kiwi does not cause allergy, but it is acidic in nature. The acidity of the fruit may prompt mouth rashes and possibly rashes on the bottom. So I introduced my daughter to Kiwi after she was 1-year-old. Kiwi is a very good source of dietary fibre and is filled with antioxidants. They can be introduced to babies as early as 8 months. If the baby tolerates this fruit well, it can be mixed with bananas or avocados to reduce its acidic nature.
Limes/Lemons are a loaded with vitamin C and folate. But they are also filled with citric acid. This can sometimes be hard to babies digestive system and can cause diaper rash. So it would be a great idea, to wait till the babies 1st Birthday to introduce lemon/limes in your baby’s diet. I started giving food containing lemon juice to my daughter only after she turned one.
Chia seeds are a good source of proteins, fatty acids, and antioxidants. Just make sure to pre-soak them before using them, as un-soaked or uncooked chia seeds can cause digestion issues in children. For this recipe, I soaked 1 tsp of chia seeds in 1/2 cup water, overnight.
Make this recipe soon, and I am sure you will make this drink more often. For grown-ups, you can have it as is or can add some of your favourite liquor and enjoy it chilled.

- 3 Kiwis
- 1 1/2 cup water
- 4 to 5 ice cubes
- 2 green cardamom pods
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp sugar or honey
- 1 tsp chia seeds (pre-soaked overnight in 1/2 cup water) (optional)
Start with adding chopped kiwi pieces, lemon juice, sugar, ice cubes and cardamom seeds from the pods to the blender.
Blend everything well.
Now with a strainer strain the juice, and get rid of any solid.
Pour it into a serving glass. Add the pre-soaked chia seeds on the top. Serve immediately.
