When vegetables & fruits are cooked they lose valuable vitamins and minerals and so to get the full benefits you need to firstly eat them raw or alternatively steam or bake. Foods in their raw form also contain essential enzymes to aid in digestion and that is why it is beneficial to eat a raw fruit or vegetable before a meal.
Raw foods to include in your child’s lunchbox:
- Cherry tomatoes
- Carrot sticks
- Celery sticks
- Avocado dip (can be served with any vegetables)
- Cauliflower & broccoli florets
- Any seasonal fruit
