A topic that I have often written and spoken about is the detrimental effects of sugar. This refined substance causes havoc in the body, contributing to many ailments including diabetes, obesity, weight-gain, candida, hormonal imbalances, ADD/ADHD, Immune System de-stabiliser and much more. And even though your child might not be showing any symptoms now, the “sugar-effect” will eventually take its toll. Start reading your labels as sugar is present in most of your food products and may be masked by many names: Corn syrup, glucose, high fructose corn syrup, fructose, dextrose, invert sugar, sorbitol, sucrose, golden syrup, brown sugar. Please be aware that all these different forms of sugar have the same effect on the body. Rather choose products that have been sweetened with xylitol, raw honey or stevia as well as using them in your cooking and baking.
