What you will need:
- Egg cartons
- Half red or pink pipe cleaners
- Red or pink cardboard
- Red or pink paint
- Craft glue
- Pair of wiggly eyes
- A pattern of a heart shape cut from cardboard
- Felt tip markers
How to make it:
Cut 1 egg cup from the egg cartoon for each bug you would like to make.
Turn the egg cup so that the opening is facing down. Have an adult carefully poke two holes in the top front of the egg cup.
Let you child paint the egg cup pink or read, and set aside to dry.
While the egg cups is drying, trace and cut out two identical heart shapes. Once you have them cut out, trace the heart pattern onto pink or red cardboard. Cut out 3 hears for each love bug, 1 heart will be the face and the other 2 the wings.
Glue the wiggle eyes to the rounded top of one of the hearts and use the felt tip market to make a mouth.
When the paint on the egg cup is dry, poke the pipe cleaner through the 2 holes on the top of the egg cup for the antennae. Roll both ends of the pipe cleaner once around your finger to make the top of the antennae.
Glue the bugs face to the front of the egg cup, and one wing each side. Let your child write a Valentines Day message on the wings for that special touch.
